I bought a Yamaha TRB6II from Max. He was extremely helpful throughout, and gladly answered and satisfied my seemingly endless list of questions and requests. The bass was well packaged and arrived with no problems, condition as described/photographed, and he included some goodies in the sale too. 100% recommend dealing with Max. Cheers man!

Was in communication with Ian regarding a bass he was selling. The sale never happened but Ian was positive throughout. Fast responses, went out of his way to fit in a meeting time around my timetable, and made very generous offers around the price relative to my preferences. He reduced the asking price by £100 to accommodate me purchasing new strings and a brand new hard case through a contact he had made originally for himself. Due to a misunderstanding on my behalf, I was very inpatient and acted rudely towards Ian at one point (very sorry!). He acted professionally, and did not make the situation worse than I had already made it. Definitely recommend.
Aye I have done. The neighbour had one for years. Got rid of it when he got a Sadowsky 5. The Neck-through and piezo do give a different tone compared to the 1006 but IME it wasn't too much better. Then again I've never been drawn on the piezo thing on an electric bass. I don't see the point.
But you think the electronics/pickups on the 6p are 'hot' enough (probably wrong terminology), to get a similar thunderous active tone like the Euro? I will obviously be playing this bass before I buy it.
Quick answer would be to change the preamp in the TRB to a Tonepump and lob some EMG pickups in there as well. As an aside, IMO, that is not the typical Spector tone. Its very HiFi and that should be possible with a TRB. The bass tone in Actors would be a better representation of the classic (Euro) Spector Growl. Again IMO this is classic Spector tone.
Have you played a TRB6P? (Not sarcasm). I haven't played one, but the general consensus seems to be that it's everything the TRB1006 is but 10x better.

I was recently saving up for a Spector Euro 6lx, but a few days ago a trb6p became available to me, which I am now on the verge of purchasing. As far as I'm aware, this bass is the complete opposite of the Euro tone, and no amount of signal processing will help me get close to it (someone please correct me if I am mistaken). My current bass is a Yamaha TRB1006 (which I'll be keeping). Because my purchasing plans have changed, and I'm a poor student I will not have the means of acquiring the Spector for a very very long time. I LOVE the playability of my trb1006 (small string spacing, fat neck), and would be very up for the idea of upgrading the electronics and/or pickups in this bass if people here think I'd be able to get a similar tone. If it is a realistic possibility, what pickups/preamp would you suggest. Would I need to upgrade both or just one component? The tone I speak of can be heard in the verses of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km0Byzc4UfM Tech specs of trb1006 here: http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/guitars-basses/el-basses/trb/trb1006/?mode=model Thanks in advance!
This used to be my rig. It was pretty fecking sweet to be honest. Had some good times with it.
That it is! Sad to see it go, but it's just too much for me at the moment. Wasn't anticipating university when I bought it so now it's just sitting at home gathering dust!

Hi, I'm selling and 8x10 and ampeg svt4 pro. Willing to sell separately or as a pair. 8x10 - [s]£500[/s]. It is in fairly good condition, works perfectly. Few scratches and minimal rips in the tolex, which would be expected after fair usage. PRICE DROP: £450 SVT4 Pro - [s]£650[/s]. It's in good condition with a few scratches. Works perfectly, And sounds really really good! Just abit heavy and loud for me it was also serviced and revalved about a year ago, and hasn't had much use since then. PRICE DROP: £600 Note that both are American made, and if you want to know how old they are exactly I will have to check when im home. Located in Maidstone, Kent. Willing to post the head at buyers expense, but not the cabinet for obvious reasons. Unfortunately I can't deliver, or meet half way because I don't have a car at the moment. Pics will be available on Monday. Cheers Matt EDIT: OKAY. I'm finally home in Maidstone and i'm ready to sell it to anyone, whenever. They are decent. But I can see why some people would upgrade the electronics. The preamps sounds like a radio transistor compared to the old TRB6/TRBll. I LOVE the neck on it (a lot better than Ibanez BTB676 for example); it is quite thick but it's a smaller neck to the Ibanez, whereas the Ibanez is thinner but a lot bigger. In terms of waiting around for yamaha TRB6 to come up secondhand.. I was doing that for 4 months and one didn't come up so I bought TRB1006. I'm glad I did that as a TRB6 STILL has not come up secondhand on here, ebay or gumtree! If you can get one for around £300 (mine was that) i'd say go for it

Sold a yamaha bass to Derek. Good communication and sent money straight away, no fuss! Thanks Derek!
