Sorry I didn't get back to you but I see you are selling this bass now. I have recently sorted out the next step to change my bass from signature to Anniversary electronics which will give me the same layout as a series I bass with two volume controls, pickup selector switch and mono stereo switch too. That will get me to the same flexibility of a series bass but not the same sound because the series has true single coil pickups instead of hum cancelling pickups that the signature basses have. All the best with the sale. Maybe you could try doing that with your bass, it may make it a better fit for you and worth keeping?

Recommendations for best cable to use with your bass?

Spoke too soon the cable just pulled out of the jack socket whilst putting the bass on it's stand. Nothing serious just needs re-soldering on. 😞 -

The only cable i have ever heard that made an immediate and noticeable difference was this one. https://www.facebook.com/lightleadglobal i have no connection but i tried it at one of the northern guitar shows and was impressed. The company appeared on Dragon's den a while back. -

i have been using Fender Deluxe and their pro series or a while an have no complaints. I can't say i have noticed any difference in sound quality with any of the leads i have bought the higher priced leads tend to have better quality jack plugs like neutrix and the cable is more more durable . I previously used planet waves but their plastic/rubbery jack housings were not consistent in the amount of the shaft of the jack they covered so this could only be a few mm difference but that was enough on some basses and guitars to allow the jack to disconnect and then you have no sound and lots of hum. later i just replaced the jacks with neutrix. -
Beyond the seventh galaxy. Return to Forever. Just because i like the challenge of a monster bass line. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f4gh1Zzg28k

They do have a method of serial numbers and for recent years and models the details are linked on computer so new owners can get a faster response when making a serial number check. but the older vintage models are still on cards so those take time and who knows if they will ever get on to computer. This is an snippet from their support page.👍🏾😀 Serial Number Guide The first two dgits of the serial number are the year the instrument was completed. The code letter tells you the model. The next group of numbers must be from two to five digits and is the number of the instrument. Thus 94H8692 is an Elan bass completed in 1994 and is the 8692nd instrument was made. We started with number 1 in 1972 and when an instrument is finished, it received the next number, regardless of model. Any "A" or "B" after number is on the rare occassion that we duplicate a number. Hey, even we make mistakes. That 8 string is just the kind of bass i would love to own but i don't have anything in my gigging life where i could use it.

I have a feeling that bass has show up sometime back on the alembic web site and if my memory serves me right is one of the rare few non series II basses wth CVQ and alembic are not interested in repeating that again on a non series bass. But it would be good for it to reappear there with some more info on it.

I have had two of these., they sound fine but are not robust the first one the the switchesand headphone socket stopped working, the second the jack broke away from the body. So whilst i liked their sound I wouldn't recommend them. I went for a Phil Jones Bass Big Head which is I can highly recommend. well engineered great simple EQ and doubles as an audio interface though I haven't used it in that way yet.

Probably why they have only made one six string Classico. Actually I read somewhere on their forum that they have only made somewhere between 20 and 30 classico instruments in total. Hard to know for sure as they don't keep counts of individual models of instruments.

Yes Alembic have been known to make instruments using wood supplied by customers so you can try asking if you have a custom you are looking to have made.
-
You can always send your own strings and they will set the bass up with those too otherwise it comes with Alembic strings. 🙂

I use Barefaced cabs now for everything from jazz funk, folk, Rnb and reggae which are my main gigs. If you want a one cab solution I would recommend the Big Twin II. Dubster II on it's own is great but if you were going to use it for ska or other stuff then I'd suggest using it with a big Baby II to get more of the mid range stuff. I guess it depends on what kind of bottom end sound you want. I tend to go for as clean a sound as I can get you may prefer a more classic bass rig tone. Interesting that you guys reach for that sub/deeps button on the amp heads, I've had those on a number of rigs at rehearsal rooms or as backline and to me they made the sound muddy and less defined unless playing in a high register so I personally make sure they are off.

I know what you mean about the rattle. I think that rattle is result of really low action and probably a bit of digging in to emphasise that. I hear it in quite a few big name players. Marcus has the same thing in his playing too. https://youtu.be/G7Q8Ual3coM iDoug Johns, Also Alain Caron.

Currently im learning about 20 Brazillian music tracks for a band i have recently joined.

I Shot the Sheriff is one of the tracks we cover in my band and i don't try to make it sound like any individual version. i take parts from each of the versions i know and merge it into the way i want to play it. It still sounds like the the song should sound. Here is a snippet of how i do it which in this part of the song is closer to the Burnin the wailers version

This one i recorded on my iphone 8 right in front of stage at Stanley Clarke’s gig in Bristol in 2018. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?view=detail&mid=3A137B0BD86D7DB6DC673A137B0BD86D7DB6DC67&shtp=GetUrl&shid=96e37359-a1f3-418c-b66a-2a2efdadc06d&shtk=U3RhbmxleSBDbGFya2UgaW4gQnJpc3RvbCBVSyBvbiBoaXMgMjAxOCB0b3VyLg%3D%3D&shdk=U3RhbmxleSBDbGFya2UgaW4gQnJpc3RvbCBVSyBvbiBoaXMgMjAxOCB0b3VyLg%3D%3D&shhk=PUdcpF90jT0v7%2Bt068aAwsteDStqQtX3OiV%2B009L6Vc%3D&form=VDSHOT&shth=OSH.g1CSxleTVPUCtu1yX8spog

All you need is one of these in your send and return loop or use it as a pre-amp into a good power amp and you can get the most incredible reggae and dub bass tone you can imagine. Make sure you have decent cabs though. I have been using mine as a standalone preamp for a couple of years now with barefaced cabs including a Dubster2 !!!!! http://alembic.com/prod/sf2.html

This is my main gigging bass these days an Alembic Europa. All maple body with maple and purpleheart neck and ebony fretboard. A really versatile bass and a pleasure to play .

I did my first full 2 hr rehearsal with the band a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. My fingers did tire on some of the faster paced tracks but i got through them by simplifying my playing, and suggesting not putting the faster ones together till i get more proficient. The band were happy and my intonation was close enough not to throw anyone off. So things are progressing well i think.

Just measured it at 55mm x 38mm x 6mm. Which includes the sleeve it is contained in.

I think way over 500 times as i use it most days for home practice and backstage to warm up. Is that 500 charge cycles some kind of norm for those types of battery then?
