  1. I bought some FretFx side Leds for my vintage bass. Works fine and much easier to see than the original dots on a dark stage.
  2. Wow holding series basses in stock is a serious commitment, and my thoughts would be that a buyer spending that kind of cash on an alembic bass would most likely want it custom made for them rather than off the shelf. I know i would. That said i guess long lead times at alembic might work in your favour. All the best.

  4. Well done guys, it's about time we had a UK Distributor, looking forward to seeing some tasty basses and testing the strength of my willpower. πŸ‘πŸΎ πŸ˜‚
  5. What is wrong with your SC Deluxe. I have one maybe it's something I can help with?
  6. Just saw it on their web site. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/brand_page/alembic/ Hope that means we start seeing more of these basses on gigs.
  7. I'd suggest checking out the alembic web site forum, there is bound to be some suggestions there..
  8. Please delete my post.
  9. I have 2 sets of the ACG EQ-02 in one of my basses giving me one set for each pickup and a master volume and pan.
  10. I am not familiar with the Wal sound but the sound on your emulated bass video sounds great.
  11. I relish the challenge of playing complex lines and getting them down is an achievement. At the moment i have decided to 'try' to learn The duel of the tryant and the jester from Return to forever's album RomanticWarrior. The album is filled with simple and effective and full bore complexity bass lines. I also do reggae which, though mostly uncomplicated, is a great exercise in consistency, restraint an holding down a groove. Something i really enjoy. So i guess i love both.
  12. I have a 5 string version and of the alembics i’ve played, ergonomically the europa and elan basses balance the best. Plus the simple controls on the europa are superb and effective with the bass/treble boost/cut switches being a great asset for live gigging.
  13. Now that’s what i call a Spoiler Alert!πŸ€ͺπŸ‘πŸΎπŸ§πŸ€© All the best with the sale.
  14. The Stanley Clarke style alembic Shorty did it for me. I mainly play long scale 5 stringers but i prefer the a short scale 4 string over a long scale 4 string. 😊
  15. Aqreed they are great amps, i have the one with red markings instead of black. I think i got mine in 2003 or 2004.
  16. I use Barefaced 12" speaker cabs for all my needs. For reggae gigs it's always the BTII, though I do have a Dubster II if the need arises. For jazzy stuff i still use mainly the BTII or BBII if i'm in the PA. I'd like a One 10T.
  17. A beauty for sure and one of my favourite alembic body styles. I have one that was originally purple and Toby Diggins removed the colour for me and resprayed with clear finish and now it's just the natural quilt maple top. I think mine is 1989.
  18. This is an Atlas Galaxy Shark bass. A hand made bolt on neck 35" scale bass from Vietnam. I changed the electronics to two sets of ACG filter based electronics packages, i think were called EQ01. So it has individual low and high pass controls for each pickup plus a master volume and pan pot. I don't gig with this bass but use it for some rehearsals and the odd jam session. It's a really good sounding bass with a vast tonal pallate from the heaviest wolly dub reggae to sharp glassy slap tones. The switch is not used in the current configuration. just realised these are the before pictures but they can stay till i find the new pictures.
  19. Amlak Tafari of Steel Pulse.
  20. I've not tried many basses actually, and it would be easier to list the ones tried. For example i've never tried a Fender P-bass.
  21. I had two Vox headphone amps that sounded ok but all the plastic made them lacking in durability. So i got a PJB Big head and yep that mini usb socket broke away, i had it repaired but the tech told me it will soon come off again, he was right. If PJB had theirs made with a USB-C connector it would have lasted longer. Now i use my Stanley Clarke Acoustic preamp as a headphone amp. All the connectors are proper and it sounds great. Not cheap but it's a well made piece of kit.
  22. I don't doubt there is a chance it could be an urban myth, though it's a new idea to me. My gear sounds great as it is set up for gigs. It was mentioned on FB and i posted here just to get some responses from more knowledgeable bass players regarding the pro/cons of micing the port. I have never seen it done at any gig pro or otherwise either, and personally I have no interest in using that method.πŸ‘πŸΎπŸŽΆ
  23. This picture is from one of my gigs and is my regular setup with the DI out going to the FOH. Sometimes the cab gets mic'd also. Depends on the sound engineer. But it never crossed my mind to mic the port. Not something i'd do so my post really was to find out what the pros and cons of doing it would be.
