I bought a fretless electric guitar about 15 yrs ago from Cash Converters and paid good money for it. Anyway having not seen a guitar like this before I contacted the manufacturer and included the serial number hoping they would tell me something about the instrument. Sure did, they said it was a prototype and belonged to them. They had loaned it to the guitarist from a big name rock band and said I should return it to them. I contacted a friend, who was a serving police officer at the time, and was told that i should contact the company telling them how I acquired the guitar and suggest to them that if they think the guitar belongs to them and has been "stolen", they should report it to the police and they will take it from there. She also advised me at the time not to sell it. [size=4]I never heard anything back from the company and still have the guitar.[/size]

Looks like I can make it today. I'm coming along and bringing a couple of my Alembic basses. This one an Elan 4 with all maple body two P-style pickups low pass filter Q-switch and bass and treble boost & cut switches. master volume and pan. And this one a black maple bodied Alembic Europa 5 string that has signature electronics. Two low pass filters with q switches master volume and pan. This is pretty hard for me to do as all of my friends will tell you, I never ever let anyone play my basses so if you decide you want to try it out please understand my nervousness and no belt buckles or other hardware that could damage the finish and no plectrums. Another I found to be really good is a Peavy Micro bass combo which also sounds great with electric guitar.

I don't use them but I'm sure our sound engineer does FOH and as he's an expert his settings will be far more beneficial to the music than mine.

Mesa boogie powerhouse 2x10 is a good choice. I use one for my weekly jam session but they are pretty heavy weight cabs to carry.

Fodera fit them as standard and I love 'em, but Im not taking a drill to and of my basses that don't already have them [/quote] In my case the bass was bought used and the previous owner was a luthier and he fitted dunlops in a different place and pluged the screw holes with dowel and a mother of pearl plug so it was just a case of redrilling the original holes. I haven't removed the dunlops but just don't use them.

I have schallers on all my basses and yes I think they could put a couple more threads on the strap fitting. But I tighten mine up really well and so far not had any fall off yet and i've replaced the bass part of the system on only one bass. Over time anything that moves will eventually wear out or come loose so just with all things It pays to check now and again and retighten as neccesary. One of my basses came with dunlops but since all the rest had schallers I put schallers on instead for no more reason than consistency.

All my basses have ebony fingerboards. Over the years I've avoided rosewood purely on cosmetic grounds on guitars and bass fretboards. I have no idea what the tone benefits are compared to maple or other woods. Well I guess now I'll never know.

Yes I have done it a number of times at venues that provide a bass rig that I really don't the sound. Not ideal for me really as I like to feel the bass as well as hear it.

I bought the fretted version of this one last summer and it has a great sound with the phosphor bronze strings. But I think when the strings need changing I will get some flats and see what that does for my sound. Although I don't currently play fretless, I'd like to find one in a shop so I can try it out.

Yep understand your point about not taking kindly to a request not to toucn anything. But that would be my perogative since the rig is mine if I thought someone was abusing it or I felt damage was likely to occur then I would have no qualms about turning the rig off. But I did stress to the bass player not to change anything on the amp. (I've read too many horror stories on here and on talk bass about that sort of thing and rarely the culprit is honourable enough to pay up for the repair). Fortunately the regular bass player is back now so that particular session is over. I'm back to my regular session where the volume is more sedate and the cab doesn't need to be loud. Phew. I think the leather museum would be a good place to start your search.
