1. I've just bought a PB from Ishibashi - took about a week to arrive factoring in paying for customs. Very happy - although the bass wasn't packaged as well as basses I've bought from the US before... Surprisingly its actually setup quite well. I'll post some pictures when I get chance - PB62-105 DMC. Nitro three tone sunburst with Di Marzio pickup
2. Just bought a Jap 62 ltd edition Precision, and would like to get a nice case for it. Are the tweed cases worth £130? What about the Tolex? Would prefer a Fender case as it would add to the special vibe of the bass...
3.
Give the dough to me, and rest assured of your place in the heavenly afterlife!
Oh, OK mate. Send me your address and I'll Paypal the money across
4.
led's? unless its sunburst. led and sunburst look wierd to me.
Yup, it's a sunburst...
5. I'm turning 30 in January, and SWMBO has offered to buy me something special bass related. Easy answer would be a bass BUT I've just placed an order with Ishibashi for a PB62-105DMC, and she won't let me have another so soon. So, apart from one of those custom leather straps from America, what else could I get? Price range up to about £300 or thereabouts...
6. Here are a set of completely unused Jazz SD Antiquity 2s, about a month old. I trial fitted them into my Jazz, but have had a rethink (going to leave the Jazz at work as a beater bass). NEVER soldered wires with loads of length. Still boxed, complete with the hand signed tags on them. these are about £180 in the shops, so open to any offers or swap for a Fender Jazz neck (+cash either way). Would also consider swapping for some effects pedals - compressor, graphic eq, noisegate...w.h.y?
7.
I'll have the Flea DVD please! PM sent
Ste_m3 has already got first dibs on that - maybe PM him for when he's done??
8. Hi guys, I'm thinking of going to music live to buy a bass, and wondered if there are likely to be any decent deals on basses there? Would it be better to go on the Sunday? Is it worth going? Cheers, James
9.
I've got one book I can add to the Library: who wants to read Tony Levin's Beyond The Bass Clef?
Can I take that? Can also add: Flea Spontaneous Jamming DVD and Green Day CD American Idiot
10.
selling my pbass for £500 with fitted hard case if you are interested? check link: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5265 andy
Andy, it's the wrong colour!!! Does look very nice , though.
11. Hi guys, I'm looking to buy another bass and am trying to decide between these three Fenders. When you factor in a (proper Fender) case, there is only £130 difference between the American series and the other two. I fancy the nitro finish of the highway 1, but really like the idea of a maple neck (on a sunburst Precision). Also, the blue Aerodyne Precision looks cool too. Still undecided between P or J - I have a set of Antiquity 2s and an audere preamp sitting around...so it may be a Jazz... I play mainly soft rock - Aerosmtih/Bon Jovi and a bit of GNR Any advice
12. Would be interested in the Jazz also, if the deal above falls through...and I'm in Wakefield a fair bit...
13. Knowing that they are similar to SX/Jim Deacon is very annoying - I searched high and low trying to find a UK distributor of an SX (all the Jim Deacons I've seen are Precisions, and very limited colours...). In the end, I bought one from Rondo Music in America... Worth knowing about for a future purchase - although I've seen JD Precisions at £85...wonder if the extra cash is worth it?
14. Just curious, they popped up a while ago with teles and strats, now they do a Jazz and Precision: http://www.basscentre.com/cat/product_info...roducts_id=1356 Any ideas?
15.
Am near Hull, East Yorkshire. How does £20 the lot sound?
I'm in Hedon, and you've got a deal PM me your details and I'll pop down (not back at work until Monday night) James
16. Whereabouts are you? And what kind of price were you thinking of?
17. I'm going on holiday to Scotland next week, and will be doing a fair bit of sight-seeing. Will be staying near Dundee, but will be travelling to Edinburgh/Glasgow and up to Loch Ness. I'm on the lookout for a second hand cheapie bass, can anyone recommend any particular stores?
18. Thanks for all the advice - might give the Harley Bentons a look... Size isn't an issue - I'm in the ambulance service and can leave the bass in a spare room (which I'll probably practice in). The SX bases are branded Jim Deacon in this country - the cheapest I can find those is £85, which is still a bit more than I want to pay...
19. Cheers for that - there's an Encore on ebay without any bids...wonder if I could get that for £15
20. Firstly, hi. I've been lurking for a while, but only just got around to registering. Anyways, I'm looking for a really cheap bass for work (a beater that I can play on my dinner break) - what should I look out for? There are a fair few Westfields, Alba (??), No names etc on ebay. Would I be best off with an Encore? (Did my first ever gig many years ago with one of these ). Is a Squire going to be a huge step up quality wise? Any advice would be greatfully appreciated.
