1.
I've been gigging mine over the last year or so... used to drive the band mad but I think they're used to it now, especially as we've been doing some retro-styled gigs. Most people under 30 ain't seen one before so for them it doesn't have that 80's stigma and think it's quirky but cool. I was at that Police Gateshead gig in '82 which was the 1st time I saw one 'live'. Another one of my favourite players Phil Spalding was also playing one around that time. I wish I still had my original L2 that I got in the 80s but I managed to find another one in the USA a couple of years ago and had it shipped over. I actually prefer the look of the L2, more tank-like with those screws on the front plate and bridge. With my Markbass F1 amp and Berger I can travel to rehearsals on the scooter. The Berger fits in the boot!
My preference is for the L2 as well, particularly the neck profile.
2. She's lined, yes! This is mine: http://www.headless-europe.eu/Steinieland/Pics_XL2_black.html
3. Twin to my XL transitional fretless... beauty!
4. Ergonomically, the Steinberger's strap pivot is hard to beat for comfort. Also thye Streamline has the Status neck profile -wide and flat - which is great if thats your thing. Personally, I find it very tiring to play.
5. He seemed like a nice bloke and came across very well. He turned down 3 k on the programme Just as well...it went for 16k USD at auction http://www.guitarsquid.com/Latest/townshen...ls-for-50k.html
6. @Bassbus I have one I'm selling, a series2000 in red graphite tint. I'll take some photos and put up a thread. Mick
7. I hear ya, but its exactly that isn't it? People who would have juped at things for sale aren't as flush and can't jump as easy as before. At the risk of perpetuating the whole price thing. Perspective's a funny thing too - serial 2xxx isn't low from where I'm sitting! No doubting the early ones have something extra. I have a very late one and I don't like it at all. My early one is my go-to bass always
8. People backing up a price means very little if they're not prepared to part with any money themselves- and I wasn't aware discussing price was against the rules Matt was the one who brought up the other bergers for sale around the place. PM me Matt and we'll talk money, or you can hold out for your asking, up to you. But I do have cash and I DO buy Steinbergers.
9. Neither of those basses is going to achieve the asking. Mr "plain daft" ( love that) could put it up there for 10k - he wouldn't get that either!! I got one 2 months ago for 1600 USD landed, customs paid etc, came to just over a grand STG. Little bit rough round the edges and a dodgy balance pot. There's this rare white narrow 5 for just over 1100 stg, in Switzerland. No guarantee you'd like it though!! Then I'd be stuck with it
10. Values for nice things like this are through the floor at the moment, unfortunately. I'd be interested, but not at the asking. What colour 'Ray are you looking for and how much cash your way are you thinking? Thanks Mick
11. ...other than yourself of course!! Here's mine: http://goodfellasband.ie/berger.html
12. Still got this bass?
13. It might be cheaper to send your German courier for it. Not actually, of course, they will farm the work out to local couriers, but organising the deal to be done FROM Germany will be cheaper. I have done this from ireland in the past when stuck with a whopping shipping bill in the States for a bass.
14. Hi HAve you got an idea of the weight of the bass in pounds, please? Thanks MIck
