1. Basschat.co.uk - helping you spend money since you first discovered internet forums....
2. I'd love an incase bag.
3. F**k me, the overdrive sound from that Ampeg is simply astonishing. Speakers didn't even flinch either - need to try a nice high power SS amp out with it now, like a GK or something.
4. OK, mine got the full work-out last night. Stupid, like really stupid volumes from a monster drummer and marshall 150w valvestate head and 4x12 in an office with no soft furnishing measuring about 9'x18'. The only limit to my volume was the amp (Ampeg V4) but the levels were so stupid I wouldn't like to use this criticism. Compared to the old Marshall 412, the Berg was extremely punchy with a good deal more clarity. It's a very 'even' (I did not say flat!!) sounding cab across the frequency range until the highs - if you like having the hi-fi touch of a tweeter then you might feel that this is lacking.
5. F**k me - that's almost anitque/collectable
6. Doesn't sound like a very good price to me - it seems that 'Trace Elliot' + 'Valve' is making sellers think they can charge a fortune. It's a nice little amp but not for that money IMO (maybe if it was the quatra/hexa valve version with more power), stick with the GK!
7. Dude, that looks friggin awesome! I feel like some proud surrogate grandparent seeing as it's all on my old pedalboard/case - you've done me proud
8. Good idea - the HK is just too much of a bargain to pass up on.
9. I say both! six ten and six bi/b'/ba ten. A brummie can't say 'by' properly
10. I'd just like to point out that manufacturing standards vary in China just as much as they do in the UK, there are plenty knocking out poor quality tat but also plenty more whose standards and QC stand up to most international scrutiny. (Of course, I don't know where Ashdown sit on that scale )

I've been hear before! Stick with the practise rooms or get a band member who works in a factory - the lock-up gets very expensive very quickly unless you are sharing.
12. Ah, just found my original thread - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;hl=bergantino It appears I'd over-egged it. It was only £871 The size/weight in comparison to the Ampeg is worth the extra cash nevermind the alleged sound improvement (I've never compared them so don't want to make the claim personally!).
13. Mine ended up around the £940 mark. Just think of it in terms of £100 odd more than an Ampeg 810 new...... well, makes me feel better anyway!
14. Amp GAS - just remember that your amp is a glorified stage monitor. Effects GAS - Do you really need it for a song/songs? Bass GAS - Is that really needed or are you starting a collection? Love the FART analogy btw - first time I've heard that!
15. I was going to suggest ACME cabs - Alex describes them very well.
16.
If I'm reading this right, you're not truly bi-amping, you're just taking the high frequency output into the guitar amp. The Peavey combo is still running full range. If you take a patch lead from the low frequency output into the power amp input, then the Peaveys power amp will only be handling lows. My setup used to be similar to this, just a bit more complicated: Bass - Peavey Firebass - HF out - Korg AX300 (stereo outs) - Behringer EP1500 - pair of 2x10 cabs Bass - Peavey Firebass - LF out - Firebass Power amp in - 1x15 cab Loads of big fat clean bottom end, with all the FX in stereo on the highs. Totally unnecessary and way OTT, but lots of fun nonetheless Andy
So he can basically take any amp he likes the sound of, take a feed from the pre-amp section and run it into a HPF before going into the guitar amp then. Sounds fairly straightforward as long as the pre-amp has the necessary outputs.
17. Yeah but, they're ugly!
18. Never mind circuit boards and point to point. What about the fact that it weighs only 20kg? What does that tell you about the transformers used? Sorry but I think that the old adage applies here of "it it's sounds too good to be true, then it proabably isn't"
19.
Congrats on your 30th Anniversary. You do realise that it's your Pearl Wedding Anniversary. I suppose there'll be a very special gift there then!
Sean. Dude. You have just given me the best reason yet to get myself married and moreover, to stay married for that 30th anniversary
20. Change the valves in an Ampeg - should get rid of a bit of noise. If that's the sound you like then nothing will replicate it (sansamp will but without so much flexibility IMO). Don't GK do a pre? That's probably very ballsy but then half the GK tone is in their power section so that could be a waste.
21. That thread pretty much sorts it! Wasn't thinking of the search facility when I posted that... Think I'll go with http://www.hotcovers.co.uk they look nicest at the best price - that's really about as much thought as I want to put into this as they'll just be glorified dust covers.
22. I wanted to sort out some covers for my Ampeg V4 and Bergantino cab. Ampeg should be pretty standard guitar head size but does anyone have recommendations for companies making decent tough covers?
23. My V4 is ungodly loud - tone will be very different though. Very simple preamp (good range of tones mind you) so any of the 'grit' or 'warmth' or whatever will come from the valves - there is no drive control! If you're anywhere near Brum - bring that SVT3 up and we can compare (ooh er).
24. I sold mine to a forumite for £200 posted. Personally I don't think it's worth much more than that - you could buy a few wacky pedals for that!
25. Hey, it's got pizazz! You guys need to get yourselves at least one pimp bass to go with the coffee tables!
