I use TI flats on my 'P'. They're a very versatile string, given the lower tension, which is great for fingerstyle & slap. I found the JJ set too heavy for slap work. Get the action low and you get a lovely 'growl' from the TI's. It's a very personal thing.

I'd look at Villex pups if you're looking for more clarity & definition. I've already had the split P pup replaced on my MIA 'P' and currently a bridge pup is being fitted.

Villex are great, but expensive (you can only get them from the US). EMG's might work for you and come in active or passive flavours.

If you have all the other bits and want to put together a Jazz made of only 70's bits, so you have an 'authentic' 70's Jazz, then fair enough. If you only want a 70's style jazz body that's worn, there are other cheaper ways. At 595 BIN, you'd be better of buying a complete S/H relic'ed Jazz.

You'll be looking at a custom made Sei or similar.

These go for £400 to £500 in the current market (and it was never worth 3k). Someone could get robbed... Daft buyer beware

I've lent out my stuff in the past, luckily there has never been any damage. However, I won't be in future, because some people simply take the p*ss. They assume that because they haven't bothered to bring an amp/cab, you'll lend 'em yours. Unless it's someone I know and it has been pre-arranged, the short answer is no.

It allows the E to be dropped to a C, using a simple lever type system (not dissimilar to the Kubicki dropped D system).

My first Trace was a 7410 I believe (7 band graphic 4 x 10 combo), rated at 150W. It could cut any gig (used it on a large stage in 12 piece band with brass etc). You should be fine with a 250W head + 4x10 cab.

I used to have roundwounds on my P and then changed to a James Jamerson set. Immediately the action increased due to the heavier tension and heavier gauge (I decided not to adjust the truss rod). Also, the JJ set couldn't be used strung through the body but had to go through the back of the bridge. Once I lowered the action as much as possible and dug in a bit more than usual, I got a similar volume to the original roundwounds. You'll need to ensure the strings sit properly in the nut as well (depending on the shape/size of the string guides) as you could potentially lose some volume here. I'm now playing TI Jazz flats, which are lower tension and require less 'energy' to play.

I quite fancied the PJB D400 when it was first muted (and demo'd on NAMM I believe). This never made it to the PJB website. This D600 looks tasty (with xlr input!), but will it ever get to production stage??? I ended up getting a 2 channel AI Clarus instead.
