I usually go to www.status-graphite.com, at £23.50 for a 6 string flatwound set (not bad), great British Company, fantastic service...

If you're happy with the sound & finish, there's no need to add anything more. Wear would be minimal with flatwounds in any case.

Hmmmm... shouldn't it have the 'stripe' down the back of the neck for the trusrod (given it's a maple board)? Looks dodgy...

Sometimes the tension can seem more if the action is higher. The tension should be identical for the same string gauges when applied to the same scale length even on different basses.

Try not to do things 'quickly', but rather start of slow and build up speed gradually. Scales are a great way to build technique and speed when applied slowly to start with. Above all practice, practice and practice. And if that doesn't work practice some more. Good luck.

My Strata used to belong to Paul Westwood, who would've used it on various sessions during the 80's...
