1. Sounds like you're being very (if not too) reasonable. They're taking the p*ss.
2. Count me in.
3. I usually go to www.status-graphite.com, at £23.50 for a 6 string flatwound set (not bad), great British Company, fantastic service...
4. If you're happy with the sound & finish, there's no need to add anything more. Wear would be minimal with flatwounds in any case.
5. Hmmmm... shouldn't it have the 'stripe' down the back of the neck for the trusrod (given it's a maple board)? Looks dodgy...
6. Kingbass 'BB' fretless (the first KB fretless made!)

10.
The Police were the first band I discovered outside of my parents record collection. Zenyatta Mondatta was my favourite album. I always rated Sting as a bass player. So Lonely, Canary in a Coalmine, Man in a Suitcase. He was working with a great drummer too
+1 Zenyatta Mondatta was the first vinyl album I ever bought. I've been a fan ever since. It's still one of my favourite albums.
11. Sometimes the tension can seem more if the action is higher. The tension should be identical for the same string gauges when applied to the same scale length even on different basses.
12. Try not to do things 'quickly', but rather start of slow and build up speed gradually. Scales are a great way to build technique and speed when applied slowly to start with. Above all practice, practice and practice. And if that doesn't work practice some more. Good luck.
13. My Strata used to belong to Paul Westwood, who would've used it on various sessions during the 80's...
14.
That is a truly magnificent specimen. Did you put it up on the Strata register at statii.com yet? Rich
Hi Rich, I did indeed put it up on Statii.com some while ago.
15. Neck pocket fit is too good for it to be a real F*nder...

17. Check out Phil Jones' article here: http://www.philjonespuresound.com/about/do...eDifference.pdf
18.
then into a Pearce BC-1 (bass preamp)
You'll probably need a power amp if you're running it into a cab
19.
How does that sound?
Try it and let us know...
20. Yes, it's perfectly fine to use a guitar pre-amp with your bass.
21.
When I saw Genesis on their Mama tour in 1984, Mike Rutherford was using a doubleneck gtr+bass Status. In fact, Status made all the guitars and basses used by Daryl and Mike at that gig. Seemed to be quite a promotional splurge. Whatever happened to that doubleneck, I wonder?
It's now in the hands of a chap called David according to the Statii site. Btw it's a Strata double neck bass/guitar. Wil
22.
Take a look at the Majors reading exercises in the Theory and Technique section-they are a good starting point. Also check out www.studybass.com
+1
23. ...turn the bass upside down to see if this makes a difference...
24. I suppose 'five4u' is out then?
25.
Speaking as an older person, and quite possibly the age of the potential mother in law paying for the wedding, anything that has a number representing a word in a text-speak styleeee would instantly get the thunbs down from me. Same as Toys R us gr8s and produces 4boding and sounds like yoofspeak 2 me ..
Yup... good point, however, it opens up the possibilities of getting an 'original' name and a .com address. Just food 4 thought. Wil
