Yep, it’s capable of all manner of crazy SFX stuff too. I called one patch “Laxative Raygun” as it sounds like a star wars blaster followed by someone shítting their pants loudly and wetly.
-
Absolutely. This patch I’ve set up with knobs for cutoff, resonance, envelope speed, envelope depth, envelope sensitivity, dry/wet mix, envelope self mod (filter FM) and the toggle switch selects between the three envelope responses of compressed, linear and expanded. However, you can go further than that and assign a soft control to any knob which would allow you to adjust three different parameters and have their ranges limited to anything you desire and mapped to any particular portion of the knob’s travel. I was thinking of modifying the patches to add filter FM on one side of the knob and distortion on the other.

Lots of stuff, really great filters, EQ, chorus/delay/reverb/, ring mod, bit crush, sample rate reduction, signal noise, vinyl noise and skipping, LFO which goes into audio rate, envelope control of 13 parameters simultaneously at individual depths. I’ve posted clips here:’

So add this to the list. This is what replaced my MuTron Microtron. I think I posted a comparison clip earlier in this thread, but here it is again : Audio-822.mp3 First clip is MuTron then Artifakt. Second clip is all Artifakt. QM Artifakt clip 1.mp3

So now I’m allowed to post this. Only been having to keep quite for about 4 years about this.

New Source Audio pedal - ARTIFAKT Lo-fi Elements

Was in the ballpark vis a vis the pedal’s inherent weirdness. A few people guessed single aspects. -

Apples and oranges though really… SA connectivity is more modern with USB and TRS MIDI, dedicated expression input, stereo I/O, fully assignable panel controls and their very slick user preset platform; I’m sure some of this price reflects the huge financial investment they’ve put into Neuro 3 over the past couple of years, which is free to end users. -
Well this is a proud moment to finally receive an actual production model of something I’ve been instrumental in co-designing and getting out into the world!

New Source Audio pedal - ARTIFAKT Lo-fi Elements

Not really for everything it does. It’s also a new custom design so there’s extra costs involved there. And stuff is always more expensive at launch. Wasn’t EQ2 (another custom design) around £299 at launch? -

New Source Audio pedal - ARTIFAKT Lo-fi Elements

Artifakt’s envelope is plenty responsive too. A fairer test would have been to record a clean audio signal and use the same recording to trigger each pedal; there’s no guarantee of my playing each clip with exactly the same dynamics. -

Thanks for being the first to venture a guess. Curious as to what pushed you to that choice; do tell. That recording was done before I better matched the EQ, as it was non-functional at that point. I think they are even closer now. The only difference was a slight difference in envelope response at different dynamics, mostly in the decay time. Sadly I don’t have the MuTron any more to do a new more accurate comparison. -

I posted this elsewhere a while ago but couldn't say what it was. Here's Artifakt and Mutron Microtron IV side by side; can you tell which is which? Audio-822.mp3 -

I’m not sure now, but maybe not. I’ve never owned a Data Corrupter, only played one in a shop. Most of my presets are prefixed with “QM” except some of my early ones (or ones where another user has cheekily posted mine as their own).

Sorry, wrong thread, video removed.

New Source Audio pedal - ARTIFAKT Lo-fi Elements
Quatschmacher replied to Quatschmacher's topic in Effects
Copying this from a TB post I made earlier: I think this may be the best thing SA has made to date, this is coming from someone who loves the C4 very much. (I ordered that pedal as soon as it was announced and spent a lot of time getting right inside it.) One thing I really like about the new pedal is the level of hands-on control, which, for me, recaptures the immediacy of the Soundblox 2 series; I loved those and the Manta is what got me into Source Audio pedals in the first place. With the move to One Series, lots of deeper possibilities opened up via the editor software, but at the expense of a loss of some of the immediacy and stand-alone nature of the SB2 series. This new pedal is a kind of marriage between the two ways of interacting: there’s all the depth and tweakability of the One Series pedals, but you can set up or use a few presets (hell, even just a single preset) that have so much variation possible via the panel controls alone that you’d never need to dig into the editor if you didn’t want to. However, if you do want to explore, there’s a whole universe of sound in there, and this pedal invites exploration. -

I’m not into glitch/lo-fi at all but I love this and it’s staying for everything else it does. Worth it just for the lowpass filter on its own.
