  1. It’s when it’s engaged; bypass is just fine. The circuit is ridiculously sensitive to the slightest movement of the string (even muted ones). Basically any tiny movement induces a current via the magnets and the pedal picks that up. The Vintage didn’t fix the problem until they added the resistor to the later run.
  2. For anyone having the problem of the chattery circuit on the MXR Vintage Bass Octave, Dunlop are offering to either replace the unit or add the noise reduction resistor which is now standard on it. There is scant info on the web but Darryl Anders who is head of the bass department at Dunlop had said on talkbass that customers could get in touch and send their units back to Dunlop to be sorted out. I’ve returned mine to my local shop to try and get it done through the UK arm of Dunlop, which should hopefully eliminate any postage or customs fees. I’ll let you know the outcome.
  3. Do update it to v3.03 before sending it out as it’s got some fixes and new features (if you haven’t already).
  4. Fair enough, just wondering if Jez bit the bullet as he me asked some advice about it. C4 also does a pretty decent OC-2; in fact its out-of-the-box octave down sound is amazingly close when its own dedicated filter is rolled off a bit and some EQ is applied. It’s not quite as fat and responsive as the analogue pedals but is very close.
  5. Here it is. Do listen through an amp for best results.
  6. That’s the video that made me buy it in the first place.
  7. I’ve tweaked my double bass patch considerably and it sounds much better. Also, listening on phone/headphones doesn’t do it justice; it really sounds a lot more convincing when played through an amp. I’ll get a clip recorded (but interface only) and upload the patch sometime over the weekend.
  8. For anyone that downloaded the OC2 patch, please re-download it as the diacritics in the original filename prevented it from being written to the pedal. It works now.
  9. DO IT! You won't regret it. I can even send you my backuo file which is already configured for C4 and FI.
  10. These are absolutely brilliant. I sold mine to get the MC8 too but was even thinking of getting another MC6 as it’s more compact and draws way less power.
  11. I’ve emailed someone I know who might be interested.
  12. Aren’t Behringer doing a cheaper version of that? Worth checking out.
  13. Someone needs to jump on this at this price.
  14. I concur on both counts. And I’m tempted to get the MXR again as it was one of the two nicest bandpass filters I’ve played.
  15. I've just added 3 patches to the file share page. These are the original versions of my factory patches 1, 7 and 36. They are simple drop-in replacements. These have the MIDI assignments I programmed and all use expression pedal sending CC1 to morph as heard in the demos. They sound much better than the released versions IMHO.
  16. Working on some double bass patches; any preferences?
  17. PANIC OVER! It seems the problem lies elsewhere than Windows. I’m investigating. Thought it was the Source Audio Hub at first but seems like it might be the MC8 in combination with the Focusrite. I’ll report back again once I’ve figured it out. EDIT - does seem to be something when sending MIDI to the MC8 from the Focusrite over the DIN port (though not over USB). I wonder if it has anything to with potentially the editor sending commands to the MC8 which are triggering its internal CC responses which is then causing the MC8 to spit out the accompanying CCs which are then getting sent along with the CCs from the editor which set the parameters for a patch. If so, it could be screwing up the FI. Though why that wouldn’t also happen over USB is a mystery. The other bizarre thing that is happening is that occasionally fast expression messages from the MC8 are locking up my Hub. This was the initial reason I thought it might be the Hub but I guess this could be another, separate MC8 issue.
  18. Subsequent. The Sub Phatty is pretty amazing sounding.
  19. I must spend some more time on my Subsequent. (I seem to be spending more time with the FI at present.) I might be tempted to share some patches. Really interested in the Sequential Pro 3 but really I’m trying to hold on for a 5-octave poly synth. Haven’t found one I like enough yet. I like the Prophet 6 and OB-6 but they are only 49-key. I’m really hoping Sequential do a poly based on the Pro 3.
  20. Or an Arturia Keystep controller if you don’t mind mini keys. The model D app is brilliant and does 4-note polyphony too!
  21. It’d be worth checking out a used Dave Smith Instruments Mopho 4x - it’ll do 4-note chords as well as the typical mono stuff and has a decent 44-key keybed.
  22. Now I recognise West Country dialect when I see it.
