  1. Anyone following the Future Impact v3 thread will know how awesome I think this bit of kit is and what wonders can be achieved with it, so you might be wondering why on Earth I’m listing it. The simple answer is, I just found out today that Morningstar are about to release an 8-button version that has a bigger screen and built-in TRS MIDI ports, so I’d like to get that before I get much deeper into this more compact version. Mine is in outstanding condition and has only been used at home. I’ve only had it a few weeks. It comes with the original box and USB cable. The MC8 is due on the 16th so ideally I’d want to only move this on when that has arrived (or at least shipped).
  2. I don’t have a board set up so no stress on my part (though I did just order £40 worth of MIDI cables yesterday, some of which now won’t be needed!
  3. Yep and I’m totally getting one (unless they plan to release a 12-button version).
  4. Now that I’ve just got the MC6 MKII up and running and bought a Chase Bliss MIDIBox, I was both miffed and excited to encounter this today: https://www.morningstarfx.com/mc8-midi-controller
  5. Just bought an MC6 MKII and was wondering if they’d make a bigger version. Now they have: https://www.morningstarfx.com/mc8-midi-controller
  6. Is it working now? If using dual expression, you’ll need to make sure you select that option in the “control source”; I’m not sure if you should choose “X” or “Y” (they are the axes for Hot Hand) or whether both work when using a dual expression. Suck it and see, I guess.
  7. Just connect the 3.5mm output from your Dual Expression straight into the “control input” port on the C4 with the supplied 3.5mm TRRS cable and it should work.
  8. Easy to check. TRRS has three black rings on the shaft.
  9. @reesource, so did this fix your issue? Please let us know.
  10. Is the adapter TRRS or TRS? You can get the Source Audio 3.5mm TRRS cables from them. Just email them.
  11. You didn’t answer @GisserD‘s question - are you plugging straight into the C4 using a Source Audio 3.5mm TRRS cable or are you using a standard 6.3mm TRS cable into a Hub first? If you’ve simply stuck a stereo 6.3mm-to-3.5mm adaptor on the end of your cable then it won’t work as the rings and sleeves won’t match the contacts. You might be able to fudge it by pulling the cable out slightly.
  12. Clean off any old v2.2 install files first. See photo for free software to clean up old files:
  13. Nope. Though Future Impact makes the Deep Impact completely redundant anyway. It looks way more user-friendly than the SY-300 though.
  14. There’s the rub (along with the £800+ price tag).
  15. Have you got source set to “external expression”? Have you set the mini minimum and maximum percentages in the editor? Is there a trimpot on the expression pedal and is it set fully open to give maximum range?
  16. I don’t think it’s currently possible, you could email them and suggest it as a feature request though.
  17. What do you mean? I don’t really understand your question. Please explain. The current patch can be displayed; the next one will be either one higher or one lower depending on whether you press up or down.
  18. I get the whole rabbit hole thing. To be honest, I’ve “lost” a couple of weeks trying stuff out but it’s good fun. I’ve definitely got enough to be keeping me busy for a good while.
  19. Here’s an example of it in use. Ignore the fact it says “Hub”; I modified a preset for this example. I actually have the FI program up and down on different (proprietary) CCs which allow the long press for fast scrolling. Currently the MC6 PC scroll function doesn’t do this but I have submitted it as a feature request; James seems pretty amenable to the MC6 feature requests I’ve submitted so far so let’s see how many make it into a subsequent firmware update. 2B717D57-3C18-4EA8-8F73-84C488AB040B.MOV
  20. No, the counter is an internal thing. You set the upper and lower limit. Presumably when you switch the MC6 on it will start at the specified lower limit. Each subsequent press sends out a PC message either one higher or one lower than the current internal MC6 one (depending on whether you press scroll up or scroll down). So even if you have your FI set to start at a patch other than 1, the first button press of either of the MC6 PC scroll buttons will switch the FI to the correct patch and all will be in sync.
  21. If you use PC Scroll as a message type and use slot 1, then type %E0 into one of the text boxes for that preset and the current patch will be displayed. (If you use slot 2 then you need to use %E1, and do on up the series.)
  22. Yep, that’s why I pushed for this. That is correct. See my video demonstrating this in action several posts back. However, the MC6 works for changing patch up and down right now on v3.00 as it has a PC scroll up and PC scroll down function and last night I worked out how to get the MC6 to show the patch number in its display too! It may look overspecced but it isn’t. I thought it’d be too much too but then it has opened up so many new possibilities. Want to be able to use expression pedal to control filter and then within the same patch, switch to using the pedal to control modulation? No problem. Want to do both simultaneously? No problem. Want to then switch to being able to control the synth volume while keeping the dry bass going? No problem. Want to use it to control LFO speed? No problem. Want to be able to play 4-note chordal synth pads behind your bass, no problem. You see where I’m going with this?😆 As you get got more into MIDI you’ll find cool solutions and new ideas of creative ways to use it. There have been a few coming up second-hand and it is a transformative device. It unlocks all the potential inherent in the v3 update and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
  23. The operation of the footswitches has not changed at all. There are two modes for footswitch operation, selectable via the boot menu, and there always have been. All that has changed is which one is the default setting. Seriously, get a Morningstar MC6 MKII as it adds so much to the FI. See my posts above with soundclips of all the chordal stuff you can unlock.
