The Source Audio will do polyphony of sorts; from a mono input, it’ll allow chordal output which is either of a fixed-interval nature, or it’ll intelligently harmonise from a given key centre and scale type. I’ve just written and published a few patches which have the dry bass as the root and then play 7th, 3rd, 9th and 5th close-position synth voicings. It won’t replicate your chordal playing input with oscillators though, which is where the Boss wins.

A gimmick, really? I think 40 years of recorded music would show otherwise. (That’s not my being snide, by the way.) For solo lead and bass lines monophony is perfectly useable. In fact, more of the complex routing tends to be used with mono lines as the textures get too busy for polyphony. However, if one really needs the polyphony then fair enough; that’s a case where I’d personally resort to keys as I don’t play guitar any more.

I reckon you’ll dig the C4.

Already an option with @GisserD‘s 3D housing.

How much chordal playing are you doing via bass? Is polyphony really a deal-breaker? I can totally see why guitarists would need this; bassists less so.

At the risk of repeating myself as nauseum, one doesn’t need any synth knowledge to use the C4, there are some pretty tasty user presets in the cloud now and it’s a simple case of one click to audition one, three clicks to burn to a location. Within each preset there are (at present) two user-defined parameters that can be tweaked from the pedal. The bonus being that these tweaks can be saved on the fly if one desires. I think this pedal satisfies all your desires and requirements, Bas, and perhaps that’s the problem - the journey might be over. (I’m prone to this myself.)😁

In the case of the FI, it IS a synth - plug into a controller keyboard and it can be played in exactly the same way as any other dedicated keyboard synth.

I remain unimpressed by the sound of the Boss’s oscillators (as I did for the SY-300).

I’ve posted a few new patches to the cloud today.

Are you trying to write patches to the pedal or just send parameter changes. If the former, make sure both cables are hooked up and selected. If the latter, you only need the MIDI in to be connected. Or maybe your USB port has gone into a power-saving mode.

@Embra have you checked this out yet. I reckon you’ll dig it.

Change monitor resolution or move the taskbar to the side. i have a two-monitor setup now which gets around this.

Thanks for your kind words, Darren. Not all of the patches on there are mine as I left some of yours on too as they were cool. Just to correct you, this has saw (not triangle) and square waves. It’s a ring mod as opposed to a bit crush. And delay as opposed to reverb. The filter on this pedal is amazing and one of the best digital filters I’ve heard. The resonance sounds analogue. You won’t find this pedal any cheaper and Darren is great to deal with. I may be interested in the midibox to use with my Wombtone II but am in no rush.

@GisserD I’ve uploaded my second preset and broke out the expression control. Give it a whirl.

Yes. I have both. Both are staying. I’m pretty busy at the moment but will try and write a comparison sometime next week.

A wonderful pedal and great for synth, filter and phaser sounds. Brilliant interface with all parameters accessible from the top. This is in fantastic and fully-functional condition. It has Velcro on the bottom. Price includes recorded UK delivery. Comes with box and UK power supply. I’ll send links to my patches to the buyer too (which you’ll need a Hub to access). https://www.sourceaudio.net/sb2-manta-bass-filter.html Long shot but I’d be interested in a Source Audio Lunar Phaser or Orbital by way of trade.

And it’s pretty good.
