  1. Ooh! A YOB bass with my favourite neck width and colour.
  2. Looks really good in the flesh.
  3. That is true. You can still send midi cc via the hub to change presets though (I can’t remember off the top of my head which number though) as there are 128 ONBOARD presets.
  4. Just picked mine up.
  5. It’s not harsh at all. I’m glad you had good experiences. Mine was awful and I’ve heard too many tales of similar experiences from others customers and manufacturers. It seems to be a bit of a lottery.
  6. I got an email today saying mine was ready so either they got more in quickly or they gave me priority having been in touch about it before the launch. Also glad you’re supporting a shop with good customer service as opposed to other shops which treat their customers with contempt (cough, Bass Direct). Andras and Zsolt are busy with the new editor. It got delayed because I and some others pushed for some extra features. It’ll definitely be worth it. Some of the presets I demoed wouldn’t have been possible had I not pushed for these.
  7. Have you heard the OC-2 patches I made for v3 of the FI software?
  8. The SB2 series had two hardware presets, one on the left side, one on the right. So not much difference here if one uses the footswitch to toggle banks. The main advantage of the SB2 lies in its having all parameters accessible from the front panel. I agree that the Pro series switches was a good setup.
  9. Mine’s ready to collect!
  10. If you haven’t already tried then check out the MXR vintage bass octave and the 3Leaf Octabvre MKII or Mini.
  11. You only need to do the (fairly shallow) menu diving when programming sounds. On a gig you’d have the ease of just switching between the presets you’ve made. In terms of the C4, the Neuro app looks pretty easy to use.
  12. I’m really surprised you’re considering getting this after your many no-presets diatribes.
  13. The C4 will be easier to edit and quicker to burn presets to than the FI judging by the just-launches Neuro iOS update.
  14. I’m jealous. Hopefully mine will arrive next weekend.
  15. So looking forward to getting mine. Hopefully it’ll arrive next week.
  16. Rich Tone and Andertons.
  17. Got to be Jaco Pastorius for me. Oddly enough I only recently learned that he used rotosounds even though I’ve been listening to him for over twenty years. It was a revelation to find that rotosounds were part of his otherworldly sound in Portrait of Tracy; that track blew me away when I first heard it at 17 and got me deeper into playing bass and into jazz. My school music teacher was a jazz fan, I had a huge crush on her (she was 27) and she made me a C90 with Jaco’s eponymous album on one side and Kind of Blue on the other. That music is still with me 25 years later.

  19. I’d hold off making direct comparisons to the FI tracking until we can have them side-by-side. The couple of people who drew this comparison were basing it off having owned the FI a while back (before the recent update with improved tracking). I’ll be getting a C4 as soon as it’s available. I’m waiting for my supplier to get back to me with a date.
  20. Lovely. I often regret selling mine last year. Had this been rosewood I may have caved.
  21. Yes. This can be done as you described.
  22. There are a wealth of interesting sounds possible on the monologue and it only has a single AD envelope. (I prefer two separate amp and filter ADSRs but the monologue is surprisingly versatile, though its lack of a square wave on the second oscillator is a bummer.) I think I’d be inclined to try and scrape the extra together for a BSII but it’s horses for courses. I bought a monologue for my son and was choosing from the same set. @Matt P check out the Yamaha reface CS too.
