Here’s the hub-type interface: https://m.thomann.de/gb/meris_midi_i_o_midi_interface.htm Connects up to four of their pedals with standard TRS cables and standard MIDI cables and is a similar price to the SA Hub. No USB port though so appears that a MIDI-to-USB cable or wireless Bluetooth adapter is required fo PC connectivity to store SysEx files.

  4. Quite right. As a way of becoming aware of pedals, I enjoy their videos, but often they don’t manage to show them off to their fullest potential and sometimes they’ve even bordered on misinformation. Zach Rizer’s reviews are much better in that regard as he is very knowledgeable about the technical aspects of each pedal and spends time meticulously showing what they can do.
  5. Not true, maybe you didn’t read all the specs or watch the video. This has 16 presets, accessible via a proprietary 4-button switch, expression pedal or anything which sends MIDI PC messages (though again it looks like there’s an extra box required similar to the SA Hub to access the last option)

This has so much going on under the hood: ring mod, ladder and state-variable filters, arpeggiator, mono and poly modes, square and saw waves, pitch shifting, expression-peda-controlled patch morphing, delay, choice between envelope follower or triggered envelope!   11. I’m moving this on as I’ve hardly played any fretless in the last year and could do with the money for other stuff. This started life as a fretted instrument which I bought from @drlargepants of this parish. (He bought it new and I still have the receipts and case candy.) I then took it to Jon Shuker for the defretting work, which is therefore of top quality. It has sycamore inserts in place of the frets. It retains the classic look as from some angles it looks like a standard fretted bass. It’s in outstanding condition and still plays like it did after the setup. Nice low action. Lovely custom shop pickups. Very superficial board wear only as it’s only ever been played with flats (40-100 Chromes) since the defret. Comes with the Fender-branded slim black leather-bound case. It’s pretty light. I’ll get a weight figure if anyone is interested. Collection from me in Sheffield preferred, though I may be able to bring it on a train to, say, London, Newcastle, Bristol/Bath, Manchester and combine with a visit to friends.   12. I didn’t read it like that. To me they were simply saying they’d decided to stop producing them and so would keep making them until their current component stocks were depleted. It’s the same way they worded their release saying that they had discontinued the Minimoog reissue.
  13. The tone control is useful as is the mode switch when using this pedal without a dirt pedal and running into a filter; the extra fizzle gives the filter something to chew on. Aside from that, I pretty much use it in Tim mode with the tone fully anti-clockwise. The dry switch is pretty useful though.
  14. All true. I’m trying to raise cash so getting down to one octaver seems sensible. In that regard I slightly prefer the tone of my Octabvre and I have a Doom which does dynamic octave fuzz. To be honest, I should probably keep this, especially given its versatility and the fact it covers both duties of the above pedals. Maybe I should..... Never mind, just got a notification of it selling on eBay as I was typing.
  15. Do you mean in terms of depth of sweep or the speed of the sweep? For my use, the speeds were fine as I don’t use the fast, underwater-sounding side of things, though that is perhaps because the lack of depth and resonance controls made those speeds unusable to me, on the block version, that is. The script version sounded better at faster speeds as it has lower resonance and seems to have a lower depth setting. For what they do though, the MXR Phase 90s sound great.
  16. The Moogerfooger is awesome. It’s a big pedal but it sounds so lush. The phaser side of the Glou-Glou Rendez Vous is also fantastic, again though, another big, expensive and now discontinued pedal.
  17. It is very good, though its lack of down sweep and/or finer control over the envelope sweep (without recourse to external gear) made me return mine. I might pick another up as I’ve now found a way of driving envelope sweep circuits a bit harder. The phaser is lovely and can still be had for reasonable prices (£269 new). If I someone buys my Octo Nøjs I think it’s time I bought this (again).

  20. OK, did some digging around: Mu-Tron III was used on Sir Psycho Sexy (sources are two separate flea interviews). Q-Tron will get close as it’s Mike Beigel’s version of the Mu-Tron III that he did for EHX in 1995. I’ve seen it on Flea’s board on rig rundown videos. Z-Tron is the Zoom clone of that

  23. @tobiewharton, I’ve just had a go at programming “Ain’t Nobody” on my Minimoog App, this setting sounds pretty close. It’s a medium-width pulse, no resonance, relatively fast downsweep envelope with medium depth. I’d seriously recommend buying this app if you have an Apple device, it’s worth every penny, you can play it on the device or hook up a cheap midi keyboard. At a push you could even play it with your bass using a Sonuus G2M (though there’ll be some latency). @CameronJ, I can share the settings file if you want to have a listen to it to comment.
