I’ve been playing for 25 years and only got my first compressor two days ago, in fact it was the first time I’d ever used one. I can definitely see how it will be useful, when applied relatively subtly. Most noticeable difference was when slapping (which I don’t do loads of; I mainly play fingerstyle, funk/disco kind of lines). It’s a Spectracomp by the way.

I bought a compressor from Gavin yesterday. Communication was quick and friendly and he’d posted it about ten minutes after I’d agreed to buy it and paid. It duly turned up today and is in great condition. Fantastic service and heartily recommended. Many thanks.

I sold Joseph a Fat Fuzz Factory. Communication was clear, prompt and friendly and payment was made shortly after agreeing to purchase. I’d have no hesitation in trading with him again. Many thanks.

Thanks. Yes it is fun and a great pedal, I’m just trying to be sensible about what I keep. I’d only be using the gated fuzz and the Mastotron does that for me. This does sound cool on its own put through a filter and played high up the neck for synth lead tones. (I’d best stop it or I’ll end up talking myself out of letting it go.)

This is a great one-pedal synth engine. This is the only pedal I know of which has this kind of non-dynamic envelope generator and it’s really good at mimicking a keyboard on/off gate. I’ve managed to get some very Moog-sounding tones out of this. In good condition, with a few scuffs on the fascia as seen in the photo (it came to me like that). Comes with original box and a power supply. I’m trying to pare down my pedals and raise a bit of money for a house move (or a midibass or new synth if I crack). Price is firm and includes UK recorded delivery and I can post the same day if payment is received by 8.30am. I’d be interested in trades for a Source Audio Soundblox 2 Multiwave Bass Distortion (plus cash my way), Moog LPF or Moog phaser (plus cash your way). This is the clip that made me want to get this:

If the folks who’ve posted tracks here would like to migrate them there that’d be lovely.

Hi guys, @Al Krow has decided to make a dedicated thread for us to upload recordings showcasing our synthy sounds. It is located here:

Another itch scratched. I wanted to compare this to the Mastotron and, for my needs, I prefer the Mastotron. This is in fantastic condition and is a great pedal. It actually goes way beyond the functionality of the Mastotron. It can cop loads of classic fuzz pedal sounds. It can do the tight gated fuzz thing (which is what I want) but it can also do a whole bunch of intermodulation and oscillation effects. Truth be told, as cool as those sounds are, I’m unlikely to use them as I’m mainly using fuzz into envelope filters so any higher partial craziness just gets filtered out so is a bit wasted on me. It does sound pretty damn nasty when run in parallel with an octaver though. Price is firm and includes recorded 1st class delivery. I can post same day. Act fast though - I’m playing around with this and it’s growing on me.

* SOLD* Music Man Stingray 4 Classic Black/Maple Neck
Quatschmacher replied to geoff90guitar's topic in Basses For Sale
I guess I could have sent my query via PM but I figured it was information prospective buyers needed to have. It wasn’t my intention to cause the seller to adjust his price. For what it’s worth, I think the body modifications make the bass more desirable (though there will be some who disagree) as I find slab bodies uncomfortable. I’m sure that whoever buys this will be very happy with it. -

Korg announce ARP Odyssey synth - - updated
Quatschmacher replied to BassTractor's topic in Other Instruments
The Model D is really good. I bought one recently. Sadly I had to send it back as there’s a problem with the modulation section (and it seems to be problematic on quite a few of them) in that routing any modulation to the oscillators sends the base pitch sharp by a semitone. I’m waiting for another and hope it doesn’t suffer the same. Behringer are also cloning an OB-X and have done a Pro One too. -

Can confirm this. I played the full size version and mini version side by side. The full size keys felt really cheap. I’d get the mini or the module version. However, might be worth hanging on as Behringer showed a prototype Odyssey clone at Superbooth which has full size keys (same keybed as the Deepmind), built-in effects and a sequencer. It should be out this year. -
In my view, the best of the three is the Rendez Vous. Basically they are like this: Déja Vu has 2 LFOs (and NO envelope control). LFO is continuously variable between ramp, saw and triangle or skinny pulse, square and wide pulse. It has a modulation gate so that the LFO doesn’t bleed when in the audio range; Rendez Vous has 1 LFO and 1 envelope follower. LFO is same above pedal. It has the same modulation gate; Avant Garde has 2 envelope followers. It has NO modulation gate. Instead it has an LFO which can be used at the same time as both envelopes and can be routed to both sides of the pedal simultaneously. However it has a fixed shape and does not go to the extreme fast and slow speeds capable on the other two pedals so is of limited use (especially with the phaser). I rented the Rendez Vous for a week and loved it. The last time there was a sale on I bought the Avant Garde as I thought I’d prefer two envelopes but I didn’t think it was as versatile and sent it back. I really missed having the slow LFO to direct at the phaser (or filter) and having the two envelopes wasn’t really that useful given that even with the one envelope version, you can direct it to both sides of the pedal anyway. Same goes for the Déja Vous - having two LFOs is pointless because in the Rendez Vous you can direct the one LFO to both sides of the pedal. If you’re at all unsure, get the Rendez Vous

I sold Jonathan my Xerograph Deluxe. Communication was clear and friendly and payment was made promptly. I’d have no hesitations in trading with Jonathan again. Many thanks!
