    SonicSmith Convertor or Squaver P1. They are heavily discounted at present as they are about to launch new models. Moog Freqbox. Iron Ether Subterranea (currently relaunched for a limited time). Pigtronix Mothership 2. If you don’t need it to track fast playing then you could get a Sonuus G2M v3 and hook it up to any MIDI-controlled analogue or digital synth. There’s loads of good hardware stuff out there around £200-300 (Korg Monologue, Behringer Model D) or as iPhone apps for under £15-30 (Korg ARP ODYSSEi, Moog Minimoog Model D).

    Not had them side by side but it’s exactly the sputtery fuzz that sounds amazing on the Zeus (and I love my Octo Nøjs, but it can’t achieve that effect, nor does it have control over the gate; it does have a tone control for the octave (on both sides of the pedal)).

    It’s just been added to my list, along with the Mastotron. Really wish you and I could meet up as we could save each other a bunch of money trying out eachother’s stuff. It’d probably justify the train fares.

    How has no-one mentioned the Red Witch Zeus? (I couldn’t find and entry in this thread using the search function.) I didn’t realise this was an octave and a gated fuzz. The demos sound great. @CameronJ, you’ve tried one, right and you have one, don’t you, @GisserD? The demos I’ve checked out sound pretty great. The Uriah Duffy one shows off the gated fuzz really well.

    Ooh, I’m interested. Just not sure if the nut width/neck profile on the USA standards would suit me - the new Professional series surprised me as I usually don’t get on with P necks but those newer ones have a different profile from yours. Has the nut been replaced? It looks metal. Any dead spots/areas of lower sustain along the neck?

    Copilot Broadcast? If so, I know someone selling one. It’s an LFO generator that plugs into anything that has a jack for an expression pedal so can sweep volume, filter cutoff or whatever else you fancy. Obviously needs pairing with something but goes with lots of different stuff, has a few different waveforms, tap tempo and a pretty wide speed range.

    There don’t seem to be that many YouTube videos of this pedal but this one is short and manages to show some of the breadth of variation possible.

    Indeed it is. If I didn’t have the Octo Nøjs I’d definitely keep it. This definitely has more variation in it but at present I’m trying to get to a point where I do less knob twiddling and more music making so I’ll stick to my other fuzz pedals that I can dial in quickly (as I’ve already spent time with them). This will still be available until about 10.30am when I’ll be taking it to the post office. If anyone here wants it then please get in touch before then.

    Just received this dynamic bass fuzz/distortion and it’s great but I can get very similar sounds from the dynamic fuzz side of my Octo Nøjs so I won’t be keeping it. I thought I’d offer it here briefly (at £5 less than I paid for it) to see if anyone is looking for one. If not I’ll return it to the shop tomorrow. Price includes recorded UK delivery and I will post tomorrow.

    As far as I understood it the filter was post-square-wave-generation. i.e. it’s simply a lowpass filter applied to the square wave output signal. Tracking the same pitch on different strings is due to the different overtones present on the different strings. A B on the A string has more overtones than the same B played higher up on the E string. The closer you are to the middle of the string, the closer you get to pure fundamental. Try plucking halfway between the bridge and the fretted note to hear the difference.
