  1. Yep, it feels very decadent. Consider it taking one for the team; the more money Olivier earns, the more he can plough into the cheaper 9V filter he’s working on, which you guys can buy. I might need to purge some other pedals soon in light of this. Managed to shift my MXR BEF and Octamizer this week so it’s not so bad. and yes, I’ll get some clips done.
  2. Pete bought my MXR BEF. Payment was prompt and communication clear and friendly. I’d be happy to trade with him again. Many thanks.
  3. No one needs to feel bad about today’s purchases; I’ve just spent £450 on a pedal I’ve never played! (In fairness I’ve played its sibling pedal of which this is a small variation so I mostly know how it sounds and plays.) Picked up an Avant Garde. @CameronJ, @tonyxtiger
  4. I’ve done it. I’ve bought an Avant Garde!
  5. Sold, sorry @lee650, @GisserD, @Radchenko, needed the cash.
  6. Just seen that Olivier has 3 Rendez Vous pedals at €430 as they have a couple of little scratches. @CameronJ I’m still dithering over which one to go for. Turns out the Avant Garde can be used as a normal phaser too if you turn the envelope sensitivity off and turn on the the LFO. However, the LFO range doesn’t go as slow as on the Rendez Vous, which is a shame as it’d be an easy choice otherwise.
  7. Yep, this is true. They work better using single pickups and better on the front pickup I find. The MXR one is definitely set up with active basses in mind as I had to set it to about 3 o’clock and above to get it to work on my passive basses. Never tried the GR or GR2. The Fwonkbeta is fantastic but I found that my Qballs gets those sounds for me and it works great with my basses. This is probably obvious but one needs to have the tone control on the bass wide open otherwise there aren’t any high frequencies to sweep.
  8. It’s still having an intermittent problem even running off its own supply. Could it be my house electrics or simply a fault?
  9. I was running it via a daisy chain with three low-consumption pedals. I’ll try it today with its own dedicated supply and see if it happens again.
  10. I’ve had a thing happening on this where I’ll be making some adjustments and then the knobs cease to have any effect. I then have to switch to bypass and back in order to restore functionality. Have you experienced this, @Al Krow, @CameronJ, @GisserD, @BNB71?
  11. What about pedals which give control over the release time?
  12. I’ve just got a Subterranea and it is excellent apart from the fact that it is incredibly sensitive to even the slightest string vibration, which causes it to fizzle audibly. I’d like to experiment in seeing if I can tame it with a gate but not at the expense of tracking. Does anyone have any good suggestions of what to use? I’m aware of the Boss noise suppressor and whatever the Electro Harmonix pedal is called. Any others I should look at?
  13. Just bought a Subterranea from Andy. Really pleased with it. Good communication and prompt postage. Many thanks.
  14. I bought a Manta Filter from Chris and it was sent promptly, was well packed and in the condition described. Many thanks.
  15. No, I hadn’t realised they make you buy their own expression pedal which is a bit annoying.
  16. Argh, you’re making me regret not having said yes to these two when Andy offered me them in a bundle with the Subterranea for a really cheap price.
  17. OK, the Manta is really cool. Wish I’d tried this sooner.
  18. Just got the Subterranea today and it is very OC2-like but with a filter than can be opened right up to be way buzzier than even the Octabvre MKII can get. And the two waveform voices are so cool. It plays really tightly down to A on the E string, after that it’s patchy. The only down side is that it is ridiculously sensitive to even the slightest vibration so it’s a bit noisy. It could do with a gate on it. I’m very curious about the new one he’s making. (Taylor emailed back today saying he probably won’t be putting a gate on that one either but is making a new gated fuzz.)
  19. You could totally turn these pictures into one of those spot-the-difference games one finds in kids’ magazines. ?
  20. Might be opportunity to inform your loved ones what you would like for Christmas, @lee650!
  21. For anyone who doesn’t know, this is one of the best tracking analogue octave pedals out there. It’s certainly the best one in that regard that I’ve tried so far. Mine gets down to (and sustains) bottom F no problem.
  22. Not quite, @Jonse - you may want to try connecting the envelope jacks to each other on the two Chunk pedals if you’re running the fuzz into the filter - it makes a huge difference to the response: Skip to 7.30 to see the comparison.
  23. I’m amazed this hasn’t gone yet. Maybe the universe is telling me to keep it.
