  1. Just found this one too:
  2. They used to do a 5-string version.
  3. This is what I get for reading and walking. I totally missed this post and came across the very same product by chance yesterday. Looks absolutely amazing! Browsing this site, it appears a basschatter sold one last year. Hopefully we can find out who has it now and ask very nicely if we might get to try it. If it does what it says it does then I’m totally getting one.
  4. It looks like this newer iteration has much less bulky hardware; on the bass body the only differences are the output jack and the LCD on the top horn.
  5. Apologies if this has already been covered but this invention (and totally unique way of creating MIDI from bass and guitar signals) just made me cream my pants. http://www.industrialradio.com.au/index.html
  6. Might be worth trying other types too as some are brighter than others. Eg, EB Cobalt flats are very bright, almost roundwound in tone.
  7. There’s a similar thing going on in the saxophone world with old Selmer Mark VI and SBA horns going for stupid money. Part of that is that lots of great players played and recorded on them (at the time they were the pinnacle of sax building) and so everyone has that sound in their head from all those golden age recordings. I too fell foul of the hype years ago and bought one for an extortionate amount. (Amazingly I managed to sell it at a big loss.) It did sound lovely but the tuning was ropey compared to newer horns. Undoubtedly there are gems out there from that era that will sound better than a lot of modern stuff. However, Selmers are still hand made (at least the annealing process of the bell section is) and so still vary from example to example. The trick to finding a good one is simply to test lots out side by side.
  8. It was very much a click bait story but quite interesting.
  9. The one in this story turned out to be a very good fake (as determined by an auctioneer from Christie’s after its owner took it there).
  10. Came across these just now and they are interesting. http://www.patchblocks.com/content/6-patchblock
  11. Sadly the wrong end of the country from me otherwise I’d be on this in a flash - been after one for a while.
  12. Good price on the Doom.
  13. Yes, the control over the parameters via expression pedals and the possibilities for connecting to other gear is great on the Moog stuff. I’m sure I’ll probably regret taking them back soon enough and buy them again! I’d really like to try it with the control processor unit to see what else it can do. With that it is possible to alter the shape of the envelope via the attenuator. The filter paired with the phaser was a great sound. Congratulations on the Matryoshka, it sounds cool. If you fancy posting some clips that’d be appreciated. I’m looking at getting a Moog synth as I’m really into these sounds now.
  14. It’s a great sounding filter, the envelope control wasn’t as sensitive as I would’ve liked and there’s no down sweep.
  15. I’ve been using 50-105 Chromes on my Sterling for years and love the sound.
  16. I can heartily recommend Metronomics as hands-down the best metronome app I’ve come across. It was recommended to me by a Leeds College of music teacher. It’s by Jon Nastos. He’s also made a great tuner app and harmony/pitch training app. He’s really approachable and incorporated a few improvement suggestions I had.
  17. Does it do “standard” envelope controlled filter sweeping?
  18. Yup, which is why it’s a quiet pedal (in a good way) too. Same goes for the Xerograph.
  19. @CameronJ, @HazBeen
  20. My local shop has a reissue Model D which I’ve played a couple of times and is fun. It’s less daunting than the Subsequent and the bigger keyboard is a plus. It is more limited in terms of routing options though.
  21. Been eying the Model D clone for months. One thing I can’t see is how (if at all) it is possible to calibrate it.
  22. Anyone used the Minitaur?
  23. Isn’t there still one for sale on here? My Fwonkbeta was bested by my Qballs.
  24. @elephantgrey, do you have any clips or videos of your protostar? It’s one that I’m seriously considering getting (if anyone in Europe ever gets one in stock again).
  25. Anyone used one of these? They look interesting: https://subdecay.com/effect/prometheus-dlx
