    Check out a Stingray with the SLO Special neck. It's basically a Sterling profile neck (1.5" nut) but standard Stingray headstock and body.

    No worries. This is the music that finally made me realise I needed a P bass in my life. I almost bought a CIJ 51 P from Electro Music it was a real bargain, but was holding out for the one I have now.

    Check out this Youtube clip of a recent Jools Holland episode, it is hilarious. Fantastic to see McCoy Tyner on there, check out Jools's face when the musicians run completely over their allotted time.

"CIJ" means "Crafted In Japan" so, no, it is not a USA made bass. Have a search around on the forum and you'll find a lot of info about these models.

Bass was the first instrument I took up, but flute is actually my first (i.e. main) instrument. Piano is something I use to compose but I am far from being called a pianist so it's the thing I have to sacrifice in order to get a new flute.     Like many people, I got into jazz via Kind of Blue; a music teacher gave me a tape with that one one side and Jaco's self-titled album one the other. It was Cannonball and Trane that got me started. The same teacher gave me a few compilations with Mingus (Goodbye Pork Pie Hat), Silver (Song For My Father) and loads of other great stuff and this was enough to set me on my journey. Eric Dolphy is probably my favourite musician.[/quote] Nice to see another Dolphy fan. Eric is also one of my favourite musicians, though it took me several years before I really got into him. I bought out to Out To Lunch not long after getting into jazz because I was exploring flute players. I really wasn't into it but kept going back to it over the course of about six years before I finally got it. Incidentally, if you're a fan of Eric's bass clarinet playing you owe it to yourself to check out Louis Sclavis (if you haven't already).

    So so tempted. I love my Sterling but would really love to have this in order to have the bridge with mutes. If I knew I could sell mine on straight away and not lose money I'd do it.

    from the serial number daters I've found on the web it puts it at between 2004 and 2006.
