Do you have a chrome browser open at the same time? Chrome will hog the MIDI connection as windows only allows one usb MIDI device at a time. Close down anything else that uses usb MIDI.

The 4Control does work fine as the interface, it was a primary aim of the device. It can be used for updating FI firmware and adding patches. USB goes into computer, then hook up the MIDI ports of the FI to the MIDI ports of the 4Control (the correct way around of course). My guess is you have the cables in the opposite ports. You also need to select the 4Control as the input and output device in the FI editor. Plug the 4Control into you PC before you launch the editor.

Both give access to expression and some switch functionality. The MC6 is way more powerful though.

Exactly. It’s a bargain and an amazing toy and tool. I already have enough synths though so this is just sat unused, which is a shame. -

Nice fattening preamp. Works really well in front of their Lunar/Gemini/Mercury to add some fullness/richness. Unlike all other Source Audio pedals, this one is fully analogue. As new as I only used it briefly for beta-testing purposes. Works great on bass and guitar. Price does not include postage.

Just in case you aren’t aware, you can do some chorus, phaser, envelope filter and octave on the FI.

What I forgot to mention about this is that is also has an expression pedal I put so you can manually sweep the filter exactly to your liking too. The only drawback is that there is no switch to engage/disable this function like there is on stuff like the Chromatron, so once you plug in an expression pedal, it overrides the envelope control. Someone cleverer than me could probably make a simple modification to overcome this.

But also, for synth, the Future Impact is highly recommended (and its editor interface makes more sense from a synthesis point of view). Both pedals cover different duties so it’s not redundant to have both.
