  1. I meant in the role it fulfils, ie. a single pedal to control multiple MIDI devices at a time. Ah, yes, much of the core role is definitely the same. Its features like the poly sequencers, fully-programmable envelopes and LFOs, comprehensive expression control and the easy onboard programming are what take it to another level. There are a fair few other features that haven’t been mentioned yet too. More on those later…
  2. There are plenty of people looking at MIDI controllers who don’t know the first thing about MIDI, period. (I was in the same boat about 4-5 years ago.) Anyone with a bit more experience of controllers will know how and why this is a step up from most stuff out there, and that is more who this is aimed at. Whether it does well or not remains to be seen. I obviously hope so as a lot of effort has gone into this. I’m not involved of any of the financial stuff so it’s not my place to worry about that side of things.
  3. Not really a close competitor at all. Midium won’t be competition with Morningstar. In James’ own words to me in an email this week: “when I saw this it definitely looks like an original idea with a lot of work put in (based on the features in the website)…Definitely a leap above our current range of controllers…”
  4. I love Source Audio dearly and everything they do, but MIDIUM is way beyond what Reflex and its successor can do.
  5. Boot up is pretty fast - an obvious design goal.
  6. No reason why Midium couldn’t be used in a similar way. Unlimited pages per scene means you could just use the bottom buttons without ever running out of functions.
  7. Helix is a multi-Fx with some MIDI control. This is a fully-featured controller, plain and simple. Aimed at different use. It will however steer a helix incredibly well.
  8. I can’t say, but it’ll much lower than that.
  9. It’s pretty well tucked away at the back in the recess so no way is it going to get stood on.
  10. The unit has quite a slope so the top buttons sit far higher than the bottom ones which makes inadvertent pressing much less of a risk.
  11. Which ones of this kind do?
  12. It’s not for you then. And as I understand it, the hardware inside this is way more powerful than what’s inside a Helix, hence the higher cost.
  13. Robust in what way? Are you referring to the screen? The housing and buttons are as robust as they come.
  14. OK, since you asked, perhaps you could be so kind as to go first. 🙂
  15. Just on my way back from getting paint mixed at Jon’s. Should be sprayed in a couple of weeks now.
  16. There’s a guy who’d expressed interest earlier in the week. I’ve said I’m willing to hold it until Monday for him. If he backs out then you’re next line and I’d be happy to arrange collection if that works for you. I’ll keep you up to date.
  17. Not that I’ve used it, but yes, fractal commands are supported.
  18. I haven’t as I’d never heard of it. Feel free to do so and send me a link to the thread.
