  1. I think I saw one go for £65 on here once. I think I paid about £85 for mine years ago.
  2. The biggest leap I’ve made in actual keys playing is learning good pentatonic fingerings in all keys. I highly recommend Marius Nordal’s book “Wisdom of the Hand”. I got it and started working out if it at the end of last year and it has absolutely transformed my playing.
  3. For learning what synth parameters do, this site is brilliant: https://learningsynths.ableton.com
  4. Future Impact, no question. It’s also on a sale price until August 31st and works out at about £228 all-in posted to your door, direct from Panda: http://pandamidi.com/store/future-impact-v3-bass-guitar-synth It just reached full maturity with the latest update which added a brilliant patch-management tool to the editor. No better time to buy one. Though, as said, you can get some very attractively-priced keyboard synths these days.
  5. I love mine and it has seen off many other excellent filters over the past four or five years or so that I’ve had it. They come up cheaply enough used - £80ish (or even less sometimes).
  6. Afraid not. Price is absolutely firm and worth every penny. Start saving. 😆 Only vague possibility would be £999.99 without the case, but I’m loath to separate them.
  7. Predictable for me, but the Future Impact (mostly) stops me buying synth pedals (though I did buy a C4 when it launched). I actually haven’t bought a new pedal in ages (partly because the Octabvre III and OC-5 are nowhere to be found, but also because I’ve been getting very into keyboard synths).
  8. I know. I’m not too sad about it though as it’s a great bass.
  9. And I wish they did the Miami Blue in rosewood. There could be a plan there…
  10. Eventually, by me, yes, as that’s where I located the units. The problem is partly getting cross-border police cooperation, but there were other complicating factors.
  11. The fact that’s that it’s across international borders causes complications.
  12. As a follow-up to this, I managed to track three of these down. They ended up in the US so it’s likely that rest are there too.
  13. Thanks. Bob James, so it was Rhodes. Always happy to check out more Hubert Laws; he was one of my early role models on flute.
  14. What recording is that? Sounds like a Rhodes doing the comping (at least coming out of my phone)and I’ve never heard Chet with and electric piano before. I’d like to check it out. Great playing, sir.
  15. Bargain. I don’t need a second one of these but it’s sorely tempting, especially as I know both the bass and seller are lovely.
  16. Probably good to correct the spelling of Novation in the title so the search engine picks it up.
  17. These were probably mine. They were new on a Lakland PJ build but they’d put the wrong gauge on - I’d asked for the Light set (which I now have on) as I needed flexible strings for the J pickup. They weren’t played very long before I swapped them out. These Mediums sounded huge on the P pickup and I would’ve kept them if it had been a straight-up P bass.
  18. FI is on a summer sale price of €269 for the whole of August. Price includes taxes and shipping. That’s about £230 delivered. http://pandamidi.com/store/future-impact-v3-bass-guitar-synth
  19. It is worth mentioning that these supplies don’t always play nicely with some Source Audio pedals (notably the EQ2) due to the power ramping when switching the supply on. (In such cases one has to turn on the supply and then plug in the pedal.) Despite that caveat, I love mine.
  20. What sort of truss rod adjuster does this have? Cross head or hex bolt? Can it be adjusted without removing the neck?
  21. I usually now run an octaver into it and then into the C4.
  22. I love putting mine through my C4; sounds massive.
