1. I recently purchased a Barefaced Midget. I utterly love it. Before playing through the Midget, I never knew the importance of a good cab. I thought that one's amp was all that mattered as far as tone shaping was concerned - Alas! How wrong I was! Yes, there is nice lows. A lot of cabs give nice lows - BUT! this thing has lovely highs and mids. It's given my bass a whole new sound. I'm totally loving it! And as for the weight. Well, going from a 30kg Ashdown Mag 210 to this wee one handed 9kg just makes SENSE! Go buy one. Now. And yes, it's loud enough. As Alex says, his Midget is as loud as the 210 and will handle all my TC Electronic RH450 would care to throw at it. Amazing!
2. Up for grabs is my once beloved Ibanez Ergodyne EDB600 4 string bass. It's in near immaculate condition. I bought the axe in around 2007 brand new and she cost around £380 if memory serves me correct. Today I'm looking for offers around £200. The bass has a beautifully thin neck, active pups, 3 band eq and is extremely playable! It has one tiny, tiny blemish on the tip of the headstock. I think it's a bit of paint from a wall. I'm based in Central Scotland but am willing to post at no extra cost. Viewing is more than possible. And for the pics - Cheers for stopping by AndyBob09

5. Alright all, I stalked this forum for a while before joining way back in August 2010 - For the sole purpose of buying Shockwave's beautiful Purple Stingray V. I then went back to just stalking - now with a username I might add. It's only been in the last month or so that I've become an active member of the forum and have started posting. I feel that a formal introduction is necessary. I'm a Glasgow based player and have been playing for around 8 years now (did NOT realise that until I just counted it up - on the old fingers). I'm currently studying BA in Applied Music in 3rd year at Strathclyde University. When I graduate in a little over a year's time, I hope to make a full time living through music from playing and teaching. Currently my main source of work (and money) comes from my wedding band, Little Red - http://www.littleredmusic.co.uk However, I also pick up work through theatre shows, jazz gigs, teaching and gigging with a number of originals bands - My main originals band being The Mathletics Team - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0P6ZS5gi8Q - I'm posting this with a little haste. We are a 9 piece. We are/were all music students. We are self indulgent. That IS costumes we are wearing. My main two basses are my Fender MIA Jazz and my MM Stingray V. I'm currently using an Ashdown amp setup but am looking into buying a new amp/cab next month - Looking into getting myself a TC Electronic Classic 450 and a Barefaced Midget T. I think that's me Andy
6.
Get yourself a copy of Slap It. Great book !! By the end, you will be a master. http://www.slapit.com/
+1 for 'Slap It'.
7. Forgot to mention, there's 100% nothing wrong with writing out charts for the first few weeks of rehearsals or the first few weeks of new songs going down!
8. Record. No fancy recording equipment is needed but if you're struggling to remember songs the either take your laptop along to rehearsal (most have a built in mic these days) and record that way. If you have no laptop with built in mic, take along a cassette player/boom box type thing and record onto cassette that way. Finally, when you get home, listen back to the band recordings and then record just the bass line. Listen back to it a few times, play it a few times ... A few days later, play what you remember of it, what you don't, you have recorded.
9. Hey guys, I'm currently studying BA (Hons) bass guitar at University and have my 3rd year performance exam looming. I'm not too sure what to play for the exam. It is only a 15 minute exam and can be made up of absolutely anything on the bass guitar and can be played with full band or backing tracks. Some people are playing the like of Some Skunk Funk, Got A Match?, Spain, etc etc. However, I see myself as more of a band player than a solo player so would like to stay away from that a little more and look at well constructed, fairly difficult basslines. Does anybody have any ideas as to what I could play for it? (Any transcriptions would go a long way too!) Cheers, Andy
10. Nice! Funky! And nice! Some man for getting all this together! I'm busy until Sunday but I plan on getting my Nate Watts chops on all day Sunday.
11. I started playing at age 13 in 2003. I asked my mum and dad for a drumkit for Christmas after having played a bit of g**tar and knowing I wasn't really made out for it. They had issues over the size of a drumkit, where I'd keep it, bla bla bla ... So my dad took me to look at bass guitars and after going round a few Glasgow City Centre music shops, we purchased a Westfield P Bass. I thought it was the bees knees and sounded awesome ... Until I heard my teacher's Musicman Stingray. Needless to say, I now play a Stingray.
12. Hey dudes, Does anyone still have Bass Player mag from June 2010? There was a Nathan Watts transcription of Stevie Wonder's Do I Do in this mag. Cheers.
13. Hey Basschatters, It may be long shot but does anybody have a transcription of Jaco's line on "In France They Kiss On Main Street" from Joni Mitchell's Shadows and Light album? I've been looking into it but am a total amateur at transcription. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Andy
14. This is a beautiful specimen. If I had spare cash or something lying around to trade, I damn well would! Hope it goes soon man
15. Can I be added to the list when it kicks off please? Andy - Glasgow
16. I'll take it if you still have it?
17. Hey man, is this still available?
18. PM sent. Cheers, Andy
