You might want to think about cutting the nut slots a little deeper. Now that you haven't got the height of the frets you could get the strings lower at the nut to almost touch the board - and will help with intonation too
If you've got a set of old roundwounds in your gauge of choice, they are quite useful as nut slot files
I don't think that would be an issue with a decent length radius block. The block will then sand at the rate the metal sands and the wood just goes along for the ride....
I stand corrected. Thank you

I'd be quite unhappy if the venue or couple is trying to use your kit without asking. Including just assuming that they can.
-
I'd try ice cube on the ferrule, maybe in clingfilm to stop water getting on the wood. That might shrink it enough to loosen it.
-
Would you not have trouble sanding it? I could be completely wrong, but I'd be worried that the wood will sand much faster than the metal and you'll wind up with dips in the board.

Keef wouldn't be able to tell them apart? I can't understand it. How could that be?? Still, if that means he couldn't tell how ugly it was, who am I to judge?

1977... Hawkwind, Purple, Steeleye Span; with The Stranglers and Buzzcocks and VdGG/Peter Hammill looming (I bought Live Vital because the cover was interesting, and that was that...), and then the post-punk contingent. Hawkwind stopped being interesting about 1980, IMO, though I still listen to the first few albums (but I always hated Silver Machine). Not listened to Deep Purple since about that time.

Sounds as if they might have been a set of prototypes, rather than an actual production run.

Have a look at my pink P and make me an offer http://basschat.co.uk/topic/279517-pink-phil-pro-p-bass-offers/page__fromsearch__1

there's a law against that, isn't there?
This may, in fact, be the only way to get students to practise.
That is an excellent point -
Hmmm, as a former Brass player - I would like to point out that a Sax is a Woodwind instrument.
See? See??? They go everywhere in disguise!!!!!!!!!1!! -
I'd like to be a musician, but I'll never claim I am one.

I emailed the seller. Now we will see if I get a load of abuse back... Title and text of the advert, for posterity... "Yamaha YAS-23 Standard Eb Alto Saxophone The YAS-23 is levelled at student to intimidate but is also used by many pros. The saxophone is used but pads still make tight seal. Small amount of scratching at the front but hardly noticeable. Sounds just as good as the day it was bought. Comes with hard carry case and neck strap. Light weight and produces excellent sound." -
That was my guess, though I would also guess that it's not outrageously overpriced and that the seller will have to bring it down. Is £300 a realistic estimate, or am I completely off track?

I was just checking Gumtree, and this leapt out at me... https://www.gumtree....one-/1184137452 I always had my suspicions about those brass players, you know. :taps nose significantly:
-
I suspect this is quite unusual - no doubt someone with actual knowledge will be along soon I'm not going to go and see it, because I already have too many basses (one in, five out rule now in effect ) https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/vantage-bass-guitar/1183007152

I understand the desire to do it, and I shall watch this one with interest My guess is that the back edge of the body might be uncomfortable? I say this because I have an Ashbory. Its strap is tied to the headstock just above the nut, and the strap goes round my neck so that the instrument sits nearly vertical with my left hand up by my jaw and the right hand about level with my diaphragm. I had to remove the upper strap button as it was too uncomfortable to play. So I'm thinking the neck fillet of the uke might be unpleasant.

I'm selling my NS Design WAV 4, because it's not getting used and it's just gathering dust in my living room. £380, plus delivery. Pics here: http://postimg.org/gallery/iiv75wl0/ Electrics are fine. There are a few minor dents and scuffs; I've tried to take pics (though the finish is very glossy; it's quite difficult to get pics). The side dots have been added, not very elegantly (there is a halo of glue around each one, but this is glossy and transparent and not visible at any distance). They are luminous. There is a crack in the end of the FB, unchanged since chaypup's pics were taken two years ago. Original gigbag is included. The stand is held together with tape but is solid. The original stand adjustment is missing but has been replaced by a nut+bolt arrangement which takes a bicycle spanner (included). Not desperately elegant, but it works. It's quite long, so I'd rather not courier it if possible. Delivery by me inside a sensible radius of Poole is possible, and I expect to be in North Wales in mid-October. Other options open for discussion. Bought from chaypup here: http://basschat.co.u...n-wav-eub-sold/ He had it from OldHorseMurphy here: http://basschat.co.u...-for-sale-l425/ I've also got a fibreglass bow, with slight cosmetic issues (needs repainting at the tip). Available for an extra £40 (or I'd sell it separately, plus £5 carriage). Trades possible but I'm not interested in EUB, sorry. Electric cello? Interesting bass guitar, preferably fretless?

Try it. If you can't get the sound you need, flog them on here - relatively cheap way to test the water.

I'd forgotten I saw this - posted about it in the eBay Weird + Wonderful subforum. Hofner S7B, Berlin, earlier this year. Not clear whether it sold. Not identical to Barry Gillum's bass either - possibly a different model? How many times have you broken a string?
alyctes replied to PaulWarning's topic in General Discussion
I've snapped a couple when trying to restring a bass with strings from elsewhere, but that doesn't count. -
ShonKy Firewood Special No6 Bass Guitar. Aged rustic
alyctes replied to tony_m's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
We've had a thread about this one before. I liike it; if I had a use for it, I'd give it serious consideration. (I'm not a fan of relicing, but this is not pretending to be an old bass...
