1.
WOW. That's a beaut! You say "£300 delivered (in the UK)" - Does that mean you're willing to box this beast up & ship it? Of course it'd be a little more expensive to ship across the Irish Sea! Lovely bass you have there!
Thanks Yes it does.
2. When my lad was 14 I had to point out to him that some people might be offended by a matching headstock on a purple fretless with an unlined rosewood board. This reminds me of that conversation.
3. Interesting definition of "acoustic" there. But I gather they are very popular in Thailand, so it's not as strange as it first appears. Though the headstocks do seem a little on the overdone side to me...
4. I want a bass one... the bottom corner of the soundbox goes on the floor - it has a peg like a double bass, and from what I hear, if you're on a proper stage you can drive the whole room with it
5.
I think I can see the logic of the strap button placement - moving the attachment points relative to the centre of gravity, although it doesn't leave a very big loop to get your body through. The bridge isn't too great, intonation adjustment on all three courses of each string rather than split saddles with separate intonation adjustment for the bass and the octave strings.
Ohh... now I get it. Thanks, I can see the intention now. That''s just going to make it really uncomfortable, IMO. Body design is Silly for a twelve, no two ways about it. Yes, the bridge design isn't ideal, is it?
6. Unplug everything, for my money. Though I learned this pretty much the way the OP did (mine was an early Peavey Cirrus BXP, some of which had a circuitry fault - live battery time was about 6 hours), so it may not count.
7.
WOW! I had two of these - both, I think, went to BCer's for a fraction of that. He gonna have to wait a long time to move dat!! .
One of them certainly did - I'm not tempted to sell, either, that one's a keeper.
8.
Finished Trying the 3 band Artec Preamp Added a bone saddle, my first non vegetarian bass! . I wanted a good break angle for the strings which i managed to achieve, hopefully help with string tension {33" scale). Not had much time to play it yet but first impressions are very good. Hope you enjoyed the build. If it inspires someone to dust down their old woodworking tools and have a crack ..so much the better Ian Mid
My initials are MD...
9.
Bargain. Ive had a quick noodle on this and it was lovely. Shame i have no money or nothing to trade. GLWTS
Thanks I hope you're happy with the B2A, weird little beast that it is.
10.
£300 !!! Absolute bargain, Shame I have 3 already Gonna link to this on the Peavey FB page OK
Thanks, I appreciate it. It's a shame I don't get on with it, but there you are; too many basses, not enough time.
11. Selling because it's too heavy for my back and too complicated for my needs. Natural with BWB plate, with quite a bit of playing wear; the scratchplate has distorted somewhat with time. No case; it will come well packed with a cheapo gigbag, or possibly delivered if you're close enough. Pics: http://s1295.photobu...0?sort=3&page=1 Weight: 5.25kg, a touch over 11.5 lb Trussrod: Turns OK but I think it's run out of any further downward adjustment - it turns too easily one way. The action is 2-3mm at the 12th, so I find it playable. Electrics: A little bit of crackle when you turn the knobs. Nothing serious and I strongly suspect a squirt of contact cleaner will sort it out. General condition: Worn but playable. There is one nasty ding, on the rear lower edge of the body, which you will see in the pics. Lots of wear and minor dents, scratches etc.. £300 delivered (in the UK). Trades possible, cash in my direction preferred; mainly interested in fretless 4-strings. Also, I do need a hard case which will fit a Yamaha BEX 4 semi-acoustic bass (34" scale) - Epiphone case for an Epi Jack Casady should fit well.
12. Looks interesting. I don't quite understand what was done with the strap buttons (I suspect the choice of that body shape was Silly, given it was going to have all that extra weight at the headstock), and I don't like the name, but definitely interesting.
13.
made from oak, presumably?
14. The more of his stuff I hear, the more I feel his absence. Much missed.
15. I have an urge to drop it on someone.
16. I think this is a foul act and should be looked into.
17. If I absolutely had to have a purple bass (glam band, perhaps?), I'd go for this scheme... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gypsy-Rose-E-Bass-GRB1K-PPB-Pink-Purple-Burst-Shortscale-/331914185927?hash=item4d47a08cc7:g:bKkAAOSwtnpXj8KI Caution: this may constitute a radiation hazard
18. 1) Work out what 440-Hz key the bagpipes come closest to. 2) Transpose song to suit. 3) Buy a suitable tartan kilt and bearskin, it just doesn't look right without them. (Or sound right with them, at least to some people's ears )
19. The space which might possibly be usable for a settee is all full of basses... Same goes for the bank balance, in a negative sort of way.
20. I've looked at it, and I understand none of it as yet. But I'm grateful the OP has put the time and effort in. Thanks
