1.
Ibanez Mikro. Great little bass. About 28" scale I think. Cheap to buy. But plays nicely.
I'd forgotten this... I've definitely got too many basses Issues I had with mine: A buzz on one pup, and a flabby E-string. Currently considering restringing it up a fourth, ADGC.
2.
Yes! and as I posted in that thread I'm going to sue you. We could settle out of court of course. Couple of Jelly Babies suit you? (other children's sweets are available before I am accused of something)
Pinching other children's sweets? Should be ashamed of yourself...
3. Tour programmes - Yes and Steve Hillage. Yes: Tourmato. Somewhat worn on the cover and spine; damage to the back cover where it appears that something heavy has scarred it; small adhesions between two pairs of top corners. £5 plus postage. Pics here: http://s1295.photobu...o?sort=3&page=1 Steve Hillage, Euro Tour, 1980 (I think). Good condition barring some creases; it seems to have been folded lengthways, but not harshly (I'd guess it got stuck in my pocket). £9 plus postage. Pics here: http://s1295.photobu...e?sort=3&page=1
4. I think these have two pairs of neck screws, two short and two long
5. My Cirrus BXP has a pot there, same as MoJo's. The early Cirrus BXPs had a problem with the electrics - they went through batteries at a terrible rate (mine did, till I trashed the battery connector and replaced it...). Wondering if this is a mod to sort that out.
6. Thanks Kev If I had time and space and cash, I'd keep it. (Also if I liked 42mm-nut necks... )
7. Second-hand USA Peavey in good nick... my guess is £650 but I could be well out. Wait for kodiakblair to show, he'll have a better idea
8.
We put a gig on last night at the Green Room in Stockton, the first band up hand one of those basses. It sounded great, looked pretty cool too. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for one now...
Dammit, more competition... Edit: When I've seen them on eBay they tend to be near you anyway. Good luck!
9. I haven't read the rest of the thread, but it seems likely. It's cheaper to buy kit; and things generally are getting louder - fireworks being a prime example. What's not happening is that people are getting more grown-up, to treat their added power in a more mature way.
10. Headless, minimal body. I can't think of any sort of cricket you could play with it. In Italy. Price is still low but no doubt will rise (9 days left). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-BX1-headless-bass-vintage-/222079093650?hash=item33b4f20b92:g:spgAAOSwq19XB3ES
11.
Works really well defretted too! I re-sculpted the head to the same shape but smaller in a 3+1 configuration as I really struggled to reach the G tuner. With the 24 frets it came up longer than most regular 4-string basses. They are heavy though and butcher-block body construction.
I am looking for a neck to defret. I suspect I'll wind up putting a defretted Fender-style neck with a bogus headstock on it, though it might well not happen till next year.
12. I can't comment on the other models, but I really like the Yamaha BEX 4. Hard cases for basses of this sort are not cheap.
13.
know this is a very old thread... anyone have one? looking for a neck, or whole bass??
You're selling a neck? I want one.
14. Not honestly sure that mine is mahogany, but FWIW it weighs 3.2kg, a touch over 7lb. Get well soon
15.
You know that's an interesting point! I've swapped 'normal' strings on the bass and I can't for the life of me think that I've ever made note of differences in tone. I suppose in theory the sensor tracks the string movement and each type of string will have it's own inherent qualities so they will sound different but I would likewise think that old strings shouldn't sound different to new strings... if a buyer wants to play, I've a few sets of used but as new strings (inc flats), which you can experiment with.
Out of my league, but I'm curious (and free bump!) - do rounds sound different to flats? I can see that they might, because the optical sensor might be sensitive enough to tell the difference.
