    My Cirrus BXP has a pot there, same as MoJo's. The early Cirrus BXPs had a problem with the electrics - they went through batteries at a terrible rate (mine did, till I trashed the battery connector and replaced it...). Wondering if this is a mod to sort that out.

    I haven't read the rest of the thread, but it seems likely. It's cheaper to buy kit; and things generally are getting louder - fireworks being a prime example. What's not happening is that people are getting more grown-up, to treat their added power in a more mature way.

    I can't comment on the other models, but I really like the Yamaha BEX 4. Hard cases for basses of this sort are not cheap.

    Not honestly sure that mine is mahogany, but FWIW it weighs 3.2kg, a touch over 7lb. Get well soon

I can see that they might, because the optical sensor might be sensitive enough to tell the difference.
