1. I'm pretty confident in saying it doesn't fit the bag in the picture. I think it's an attempt to build an electric version of a traditional instrument - possibly by modding a through-neck guitar?
2. I am not metal at all, whatever my score might turn out to be. Apart from anything else, how metal is taking BBC quizzes online? When the pubs are open, even. Edit: Actual score is 5/10, at least one of which I got from this thread
3. It sounds to me as if you are beating yourself up too much. Apart from anything else, you've demonstrated that you're good enough to teach at least at a basic level, otherwise your GF and her father wouldn't be learning from you. Keep going, and bear in mind that you've come a long way - on your own! - in three years.
4. I sold Steve my parts-or-repair Hohner B2A. We had a nice chat and all went well. No hesitation in dealing with him again. Thanks Steve
5. I don't know anything about Fenders, but I'd be very uneasy about five poor pics at that price. Also, the tuner shape verifies the age of the tuners (if they are Fenders...), not the bass.
6. An unfinished P-bass body with a pretty top - possibly bubinga? I bought this from eBay a couple of years ago because it looked pretty and I thought I'd have time to do something with it. But I need the space, and I haven't the time. To be filed under Experience, I guess. £35 plus carriage. Pics: http://s1295.photobu...p?sort=3&page=1 The neck has been sold separately. This is a partly-shaped but unfinished P-style body with a nicely figured top. Its routing holds a Charvel P-type pickup but is quite large and does need a pickguard. The veneer may be bubinga, but I'm not knowledgeable in these things. It has a tort P-type pickguard fitted with a Charvel P-type pickup, and a gold-coloured bridge, heavy-Fender style. The pickguard has some scratches, hard to photograph. It would need replacing anyway as the routing is oversize above the controls. The names on the pickup are rather worn. The bridge is not fitted exactly squarely. What it needs: - The body needs finishing. - A new pickguard. The routing for the controls is not covered by the existing PG, so something a little larger will be needed - more like the Hohner-style PG, rather than the existing pointed plate. The pups will have to be mounted to the new PG. - Strap pegs. (The holes are drilled already.) - The black tape on the back of the body covered a drill hole, which looks as if it's come through from the front. It looks to be 4mm or so. I've shown this in one of the pics. - Pickguard screws. - Pup screws. - Neck plate. - The bridge is a five-screw mounting which is missing the centre screw.
7.
Honestly . . . I'm scared. Partly by the headstock (I don't know if there's a headstock truss rod access hole in the middle of the peghead or not!). Also this sentence doesn't help: "The neck is also AAAA Quilted Maple, with twin strips of Purpleheart running the length of the neck and headstock. These strips, in addition to the non-adjustable truss rod, provide excellent stability. "
So, given that the hole for truss rod access was drilled, but the TR is "non-adjustable"... it's probably seized.
8.
A friend of mine is selling one for £85!
I've got three already, otherwise I'd be asking questions
9. Ooof... Nice! I think he might have played that one before.
10. Ooo... I saw the eBay ads a year or two back, but I couldn't afford it at the time (and probably still can't...). How wide is the neck? I've read somewhere that it's a Jazz-width nut, but I don't know any more than that.
11. And another rather ambitious price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEAVEY-USA-built-Bass-guitar-Rare-American-model-with-Super-Ferrite-Pickups-/221964824550?hash=item33ae226fe6:g:2GMAAOSwbdpWaTsu
12. Thursday night went OK. Our usual ocasional gig, not many people but they seemed to enjoy it and we got a few suggestions. I've played worse, and better. The real test will be in a couple of weeks where we are going out as a two-piece (not a three, the better guitar is on holiday) to an unfamiliar audience...
13.
Not me - I've been Peaveyless for some months now. Maybe whoever bought it from me (I forget who that was now)
I had the Fury and the Fury II, if I remember rightly
14. When she's good, she's superb.
15. I was the 4th owner. This is a lovely bass, and I'd still have it if Sean hadn't offered me a trade I couldn't refuse. I can't imagine any buyer regretting owning it.
16.
Sad but true. Peavey make some fantastic basses. But I think the T20s and T40s would be just a bit too heavy for me. Ideally I like sub-9lb basses.
I reckon you could take the hardware and strings off my T-40 and it would still be 9lb... No wonder I don't play the thing. I should flog it.
17. Peavey Foundation. About £150. Storming bass - though you may find it too aggressive with rounds.
18. I love this to bits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmQMNEsKdTU
