1.
This still available?
Yes, still here.
2. I bought Frank's Slinger hip strap and I am a happy camper. I'd be happy to deal with Frank again. Thanks Frank!
3. That's what it looks like to me. But lots of people would call me paranoid. And I know who they are. All of them.
4. That does sound like fun
5. I was interested by this: "being a private seller my maximum selling price is limited " - surely if he was selling a car (say an Aston Martin) it could go for more than any likely bass? (Sad though it is )
6. I presume the seller is relying on eBay not noticing the "sale".... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1980s-Steinberger-XL2-electric-bass-pics-/172118359025?hash=item28130dbbf1:g:BgAAAOSwzgRWvwZd "PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. This listing is about pictures of the Steinberger bass, not the bass itself, because being a private seller my maximum selling price is limited (if you are interested in the bass guitar, please don't bid). Pictured is an original Steinberger XL2 electric bass, unused except possibly for shop trials. It comes with its original strings, documentation, strap and soft case. No scratches and signs of wear. Some metal parts show slight opaqueness from 30+ years of age, but no signs of oxidation (please see pictures). Made in NY, USA (serial Number 6818). According to Steinberger's serial number database, this one belongs to the first series (please check it out here: http://www.steinbergerworld.com/serialdb.htm, second paragraph). A really rare opportunity. I am considering listing it soon, or accept the best offer. Can post in the UK. For more information or specific pictures please contact me. Inspection and direct collection are quite welcome."
7. Original replaced with a bridge pup?
8. Glad you liked it
9. Tasty! If I was playing fivers, I'd be looking hard at this.
10.
Apart from sharing some of the same letters, no. Cimar was a Japanese brand distributed by, and subsequently owned by Hoshino Gakki. Hoshino is the company which owns the Ibanez brand and subsequently marketed Cimar as "Cimar by Ibanez". So there's no connection with CMI (although some Cimars may have come from the same factory) but interestingly (if you find this sort of thing interesting!) there is a connection with similar 3-letters-starting-with-C UK brand CSL. CSL was house-brand of Charles Summerfield Ltd, who during the 70s & early 80s were UK distributor for Ibanez. So using this connection, they sourced their own brand through Hoshino, meaning CSLs were mostly re-badged Cimars. Very nice some of them were too. J.
Okay, thank you Jon.
11.
CMI (Cleartone Musical Instruments - a Marshall sub-brand) Jazz copy, same bass as the Avon discussed here: http://basschat.co.u...avon-jazz-bass/ Probably made by Chushin Gakki, ply body, a decent neck if you're lucky, single-coil Telecaster pickups etc. Might be cool if you can grab it cheap enough (about £50 - £60ish), those stickers would all come off no bother if you warm them with a hairdryer to soften the glue. Jon.
Is CMI the same organisation as Cimar? My 70s P-style had a stuck trussrod and I wound up replacing the neck with a Collins, but that definitely had a CMI logo on the headstock.
12. Snarks. I bought one, then the guitarist liked it and bought one, then the other guitarist/drummer wanted one, so I bought another one. Then the mandolin guy from the other band liked it and pinched mine till I took his fave lead hostage, then I bought him one for Xmas... or something like that. We love them.
