Just wondering if the brass electrics plate would do "as is", i.e. without plating? Too much chance of corrosion, perhaps?

Thanks. I think you're right, the BC basses have a note on the inside of the cover plate. But I do wonder how anyone looking at the advert would be able to tell.
I haven't seen an SB401 on eBay before.
Mind you, I don't see how you'd know it was an SB401...
