Not sure about the washers...but I love the beer. Delicious!
If I liked the beer, I'd use the washers more often... Too much sugar in it. (Not that I'm famous, of course.)

A P-bass project with a nice colour match and a pretty top. I bought this from eBay a couple of years ago because it looked pretty and I thought I'd have time to do something with it. But I need the space, and I haven't the time. To be filed under Experience, I guess. £50 plus carriage. Pics: http://s1295.photobu...p?sort=3&page=1 What it has: - Partly-shaped but unfinished P-style body with a nicely figured top. It's routed P-style. I don't know what the woods are. - P-type neck marked DR PARTS. The truss rod turns easily. - Tuners, copper-coloured to pick up the colour of the top. - Tort P-type pickguard. This has some scratches, hard to photograph. - Charvel P-type pickup, with the names rather worn. - Gold-coloured bridge, heavy-Fender style. It is not fitted exactly squarely. What it needs: - The body needs finishing. - A new pickguard. The routing for the controls is not covered by the existing PG, so something a little larger will be needed - more like the Hohner-style PG, rather than the existing pointed plate. The pups will have to be mounted to the new PG. - Strings. - Strap pegs. (The holes are drilled already.) - The black tape on the back of the body covered a drill hole, which looks as if it's come through from the front. It looks to be 4mm or so. I've shown this in one of the pics. - Pickguard screws. - Pup screws. - Tuner screws. - Neck plate. - The bridge is a five-screw mounting which is missing the centre screw.
How many photos have you go up there? I thought I had a lot yet my free account is only 1% full... Try refreshing the page or logging out and back in after deleting some to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for the advice. I've got about 350 pics, apparently. The account is 81% full. Removing a picture makes almost no difference. Logging out and in again has no effect that I can see.

Can anyone enighten me about this please? I'm running up against space limitations, but removing pictures seems to make no difference. I'm confused. I'd be grateful for any info. Thanks.

Doing the dep - tips to learn songs quickly, please!
alyctes replied to JimBobTTD's topic in General Discussion
Start at the end of each song and learn phrase by phrase back towards the beginning. That way you're always going towards a bit you know, and you don't learn the start really well and the rest not so well. -
Also, Aria Sinsonido bass. These weigh nothing and sound great, at least to me, and the flare at the end of the neck is much nicer than, say, the Duke, where it is actually possible for your hand to fall off the end of the neck if you are a bit pissed and overenthusiastic
I had two Rail basses - sold them both to BCers, some time ago. Brilliant bit of kit - a real eye opener and how the positon of the pick-up is so important to the tone/sounds you are looking for. Hard ish to find, these days.
I was one of the lucky buyers . Stonking bass.
Their version of Born To Run kicks the living daylights out of Springsteens version!
Yup. And Pleasuredome itself is great, as the OP says.

Anybody know anything about this??
alyctes replied to TheGreek's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Sniper tool, by the sound of it. Keep an eye open, it may be up again -
I can't believe this is illegal. I can lend someone my car, FFS...

I agree, mostly, but the curled carving for the top horn and the burned layering in the wood rather contradict each other. That would annoy me after a month or two, I reckon.

Now I have GAS...

Hohner Jack going tomorrow, still cheap, Wallingford
alyctes replied to alyctes's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
That's a bit more like it. Anything under £200 would be a bargain IMO. Edit: For a bass in good nick. £265 is a bit over the odds given the lack of active circuit. -
Not my idea of fun. Apart from anything else, I don't think it is going to be comfortable to play sitting down.
-
"No case"... I think I guessed that! I like the shape.

I think so. Build is good, comfortable, plays well, sounds good. Not everyone likes the headless, of course. I sold mine because I wasn't playing it, but that's because I have far too many basses. -
Cheap CAR Jazz-alike in Germany... ... ending tomorrow, so if you're really curious now is the time to think about it http://www.ebay.co.u...coAAOSwqrtWm4Br

I've got one, five or six years old. It's definitely not a toy. The build quality is pretty good for the money, but there's a buzz which is probably bad earthing on one of the pups. The E string was very flabby out of the box; I changed it which improved it somewhat, but it's still a bit soggy. I don't gig much so it hasn't been on stage. It needs a bit of looking at, IMO, but I would gig it. I'm thinking about restringing it ADGC, which would sort the E string and shouldn't be a major hindrance. Edit: The new strings are for a 30". They're fine.

I have a Rail, which I love, and an Alien, which I'm going to sell, and a Duke, which I'm going to sell. The B2A has a stuck or dead trussrod and is up for spares or repair. I've never played the Alien outside the house, but the Duke definitely has tuning problems. Maybe it's faulty?

alyctes replied to The Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Screwdrivers, batteries, leads, mics. Paracetamol, sticking plasters. Extension lead. My own personal medication.
