1.
It is recent yes, happened midweek. Basschat does seem to be the only site i frequent that has this problem.I suppose I will learn to live with it lol. Cheers Pete
Okay, it's not the tag, then, that's been happening for most of this year.
  2.
Burn him, he's a witch!
It's getting like being at work round here...
  3.
No one, really?
I've been looking at it every now and then. It looks great and I'm sure it sounds lovely, but I have too many basses and too little money.
  4. Is this to do with the tag I keep seeing? It's invisible to Firefox, so it's hard to work out what the membership is on about a lot of the time... [Edit: It's visible above because I put an extra space in. And I know it exists because if you quote a post, you can see the tags.]
  5.
Didn't Steely Dan do something similar, or am I getting confused?
Other way round
  6.
That bridge is pollocks.
True, but at least the tunas are half decent.
  7.
Is that a Prawn shop Bass?
No, it's obviously a hake.
  8.
Notice the Thomann box in one of the pics?, probably a Harley Benton that's been wrecked !! John
Probably a Deko... that paintjob would cover the stamp effectively.
  9.
I knew it! The whiting's on the wall.
Better get your skates on...
  10.
Is it my imagination or are there no pickups?
Would you pick that up?
  11.
Oh Cod no, don't start with the fish puns...
Now now. There's a plaice and time for these things, you know.
  12. I've never owned a factory build in that config, so I can't comment on the Fender. Which said, I have two basses with double P pups. I like the sound; the bridge pup gives more cut-through than a "standard" P pup on its own seems to.
  13. I wouldn't buy it. But I couldn't anyway. I'm well used to people with pots of money spending it on stuff I dislike and/or find reprehensible.
  14. Look for long grooves in the fingerboard where the strings have worn the wood away. Some marking from strings might be okay, but if there are actual grooves I wouldn't buy it. In your position I would consider a new Harley Benton. They are good quality for their price, and you should be able to get an idea of what a fretless should be like without spending a lot of money on it.
  15. Shell pink, black/white/black plate. Or one of the pale blues with a dark tort plate.
  16. Not run across these before. I like the reverse headstock, but the nut's too wide for my taste. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Epiphone-EMB-4-Aktif-Bass-/262079135924?hash=item3d052240b4
  17. Love the logo (Not that there's anything wrong with the bass itself, he said hastily...),
  18. I don't like the shape. The neck's too short, for a start...
  19. Looks sweet, though obviously not to everyone's taste. I also would be interested to read a review - not that I'm likely to afford one any decade soon...
  20.
Thanks, Alyctes . That must have taken sometime....I'm afraid it turned out to be one of my seemingly endless epics!
Once I started, I had to finish

    NBD!

I used not to like tort, but I'm coming round, at least to the darker variety. It looks nice
  22. I put nylon LaBellas on my no-name jazz copy a couple of weeks ago, and had to take them off, because they take all the snarl out of it. I like the lack of finger noise, but there seems little point if it doesn't make a noise I like. Flats on a P-type, yes I think I need to try some half-rounds, see i I can keep the snarl but reduce the finger noise.
  23. Well that shouldn't be here long...
  24.
Not sure it counts as a cheap one...but I still love playing my Vox Standard...my first 'proper' bass.
I love mine, but the neck is too thick and the thing weighs a ton... I dig it out occasionally if we're playing something ska-ish.
