If I read you correctly, the nut overhangs the side of the neck slightly. If that's correct, I would try to tap it free with a hammer, by hitting the end of the nut longways so that it travels in its slot, i.e. hit it as though the nut was a nail. If you're not used to using a hammer, I'd pay a guitar tech or luthier to do it. I would: - take the strings off the tuners. - clamp or hold the bass so that you can get at the overhanging side of the neck easily. Be sure not to damage the bass with the clamps! - Hold a piece of scrap wood or hardboard over the overhanging end of the nut so that you can tap the scrap wood, so that the hammer doesn't hurt the wood of the neck. - [u]Carefully[/u]! [u]Gently[/u]! tap the scrap wood with the hammer. With any luck it will free the nut in its slot. (If you're really lucky it will just move sideways along the slot a little bit and wind up in the right place ) Disclaimer: I am not a luthier or professional instrument repairer!

[/quote] Yes. Either Pahoehoe strings or Aquila Thunderguts seem good to me. Avoid the originals (off-white translucent silicone, often badged "Fender"), the G string breaks if you looks cross-eyed at it.

I bought the first one. Didn't like the drumming. That was enough for me.

I bought a "best of" a while back. Weather Report and his solo stuff, mostly. A great player, clearly, but I didn't care about what he was playing. Today I heard Joni Mitchell's 'Don Juan's Reckless Daughter' for the first time - bought mostly because I hadn't heard much by Joni and knew Jaco played on it. Bloody hell. That's going to take some serious listening. His work on that makes all sorts of sense to me; maybe because my first instrument was cello.

I don't see that many items described as rare here; certainly nowhere near as many (proportionately) as eBay. Maybe it's because I'm not looking at the Fenders?

Can anyone point me at a source for a truss rod spanner for a Yamaha RBX200? It just needs to fit, I don't care about it being "official". Any info gratefully received. Thanks
