1.
Yes, agreed. Especially as the really unscrupulous seller could shill up an early bid to find out where it maxes out, and then retract the bid which takes it over the bidder's maximum.
I didn't think a bid could be retracted?
 2.
Or this? http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2380684
Interesting Thanks for the idea, I may pursue that. I'd certainly learn a lot, and for not many shekels. In the mean time, Bump!
 3.
A long time ago someone on here bought one, intending to use the tuners, electronics, and other bits for a project they were working on. If I remember correctly (ha!) they paid about £34 for it or something. Unfortunately I never noticed what happened with that project, I must have missed that thread.
If the buyer is anything like me, the bits may still be sitting there waiting for things to happen
 4.
I have a Cimar P-bass, which I have specifically because it looks trad as a trad thing - currently awaiting a neck replacement, because the trussrod is stuck.
It's now wearing a Collins J-width neck, got from Germany via eBay. I like it; it plays nicely, sounds good, and I don't have to look at it when I'm playing
 5.
You're not alone. John's knowledge is invaluable and much respected. Thank you John.
Absolutely.
 6. That's a sad loss
 7. Ummm... I could be wrong, but I don't think you mean "horrible"
 8.
Oo I've never see a fretless super headless before - think I might have a crack at this one! http://www.ebay.co.u...mMakeTrack=true
Did you get it?
 9. Do we know who got it?
 10.
Not my cup of tea but at least it is less likely to fall over.
Exactly.
 11. I'm quite amused that the first pic is of a stock bass (nice taut parallel strings ).
 12.
... Not that I really need yet another bass…
"Ach, so, Herr Doktor, can he be cured of his sad illness?" "Why yes, the unfortunate fellow should make a full recovery in due course. Just keep showing him the pretty pictures, and all will be well." "You mean... ?" "Yes indeed, he will have GAS just like any normal bass player."
 13.
That looks lovely
Definitely
 14. There's a Tom Waits album which sort of fits this description. I can't remember the name of it - is it Bone Machine? Nor can I remember if there are any instrumentals on it. Also, it might be worth looking at some dub?
 15. That looks nice
 16. "Prefer cash payment"... I reckon he's got a whippet with quite a lot of wear on it, as well.
 17. Should be good for metal.
 18. Lucky for me, I never look at eBay ads from that side of the pond
 19. I will never buy a bass from someone who can't use a spellchecker; they won't type the delivery address properly either. I don't actually mind the look of the thing that much, but I can't see using it down the Dog+Duck of a Saturday night. Claiming the thing sounds great in a recording, but not linking to the recording, is so much snake oil.
 20. Probably just not that common, rather than sh*te
 21.
That seems fairly elementary.
One would think so, but I'm guessing they will have difficulties to iron out. And it will cost. Earthing, airlocks, fire insurance, waterproofing...
 22.
What is the diameter of the holes for the tuners please.
Holes are 19mm diameter.
 23. Been having a look at some of the other HB basses on the Thomann site. It looks as if their B-stock items might actually be worse than some of the Dekos... ! Also, the whole thing looks like a huge mix+match parts shop. If you want a J-style bass with a reverse headstock, they're cheap enough (even at full price) that it's possible to buy two, for the price of a starter bass six or seven years ago. Surreal.
