1.
And it backfires if I (as any sensible person would) put "-fender" into my search to exclude all Fenders.
This.
  2. I wouldn't go near anyone with that.
  3. Sing? Almost everyone can learn to sing, or so they tell me.
  4.
It should be . . . Your favourite Colour! But if it doesn't suit, or you don't really have a favourite . . . Here's some linkages:
Thanks for the pics, excellent idea These two are closest to the body colour.
  5.
What is the fretboard wood?
Rosewood.
  6. I have a P-ish body which is Shoreline Gold (or close to it). It will have a J-width neck and P-J Bartolinis, and I think it needs a scratchplate. What colour should the plate be?
  7.
It's only meant to be a 10 string bass looking at the bridge. Is he havin a laff?
But you get 50% extra, free! What's not to like?
  8. I looked at the fourth pic and couldn't work out what that knob half way down the neck was GLWTS!
  9.
What's the best way to remove a totally wrecked bridge saddle pin? I found some matching replacements but I need to get the rusted ones out first!
I would: 1 - Take it off the bass. 2 - Soak it in penetrating oil for a day. 3 - Use pliers to turn the pin, if you can get any purchase. Failing that, use a Dremel or similar to cut a slot in the pin end, so that you can get purchase on it with a screwdriver. Heat or cold might also be useful in freeing the pin. Cold is probably less risky - put it in the freezer overnight.
  10.
Not the sort of music I'd normally listen to......but; great arrangment , superbly executed, and the overall sound is top notch....enjoyed it and well impressed !!
This
  11. Nice I don't usually like the G+L headstock, but this seems to carry it off somehow.
  12. I don't think you have. I do think that people like to see a description written by the seller - basses are personal, and not writing it yourself somehow implies you didn't love it. And some people just won't click the link, especially after the "tasty mods" comment in the title. Just my opinion, obviously It's pretty, and the mods do seem impressive. I have too many basses and I'm skint, otherwise I'd have it myself. GLWTS
  13. I may be doing the same... yesterday my Farida FJB-6 had to compete with a Yamaha with a P pup. And a bigger amp. Hmmm.
  14. Doesn't seem stupid to me No remedies, except maybe gloves. Which is not going to suit a lot of players, I know What does your GP say? (Let me guess: "It'll get better with time and practice." Then you can ask if you can get practice time on prescription )
  15.
It strikes me, as an extra benefit, that preset tags also gets us round either spelling mistakes (not so common on BC, but we've all browsed on Ebay and chortled at the Finder Precocious basses, I'm sure!) or variance (is it 5string or 5 string? Or strings? Or Five?) I think most on here are either fairly knowledgeable about their gear, or at least interested enough to learn from others.
But, if the seller can't be arsed to read what's clearly printed on the headstock, are they going to get my address right?
  16. I like the browsing aspect, and I am all in favour of reducing the mods' workload. Keep it as it is.

I bought Geoff's Sandman two-string. A nice efficient quick transaction, all as advertised, well packed. No complaints, and would happily deal again. Thanks Geoff
  18.
Sting played a few fretless basses during the police. 2 different precisions, Ibanez Musician, a very rare custom built Ibanez Musician with a natural body and maple board, Hamer Blitz 8 string fretless, There was also a fretted Ibanez Musician, not forgetting he used a Steinberger L2 in 1982 and the lovely White Spector NS2. There was also a 60s Precision (fretted) used in the Monserat documentary with Jools Holland and lastly the Van Zalinge upright, endearingly named 'Brian'
If I understand correctly, he bought his first fretless on tour, one afternoon in New York, and gigged it the same evening... I gather there may have been intonation issues
