1. I do like this. It looks like a Fleabass, but nicer. Might be coming past Leeds early next month. :ponders:
2.
Beady Belle - Self Fulfilling. Nice groove type thing. Can't post a Youtube link - no idea why. Used to work fine.
I think there's been some sort of update to the site software, because I haven't been able to see many links posted for several months. It seems to be the ones in tags. My browser doesn't show them at all, so I get "I've been listening to this:" and nothing else Firefox 38.0.5 on WinXP SP3, with Adblock Plus and Flashblock.
3. I like the Snark tuners. Easy to read, good display.
4.
By a very long way - this.........
I'd forgotten that ever existed.
5. Nut's too wide for me. Kodiakblair's probably got one already
6. Would changing only one pot be a way of getting an ear for the difference? (Disclaimer: this may be an electrically stupid idea
7. Agree on slides. Make sure it's properly intonated and in tune; it makes much more of a difference on a fretless. Don't think of it as another bass guitar; it's an instrument in its own right.
8. The Money Programme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNcUnfvFAFI
9. At that price it might be worth a punt even for parts...
10.
Haha glad to help. It ain't half a bad bass for the equivalent of £60 (the value of the guitar I swapped it with). In some ways I would have preferred a precision style copy but as was the only swap offer I got (using Gumtree) I thought I would give it a go anyway. Having been so used to p/j it's weird having the j/j now but it seems versatile enough to be a good bass to mess around recording with!
Sounds like a result
11. That shouldn't be here long
12. no useful advice, but good luck
13.
I'll dig out a ruler and check. It is a bit thinner than the Yamaha BB414 I used to have. Not sure what year this one is from. Some I've seen have an almost carbon copy of a fender headstock whereas the one I've got is bit different as you'll see. Has a gloss neck which I think I'll be taking the sandpaper to!
Thanks, that's perfect - no need to check - "a bit thinner than a BB414" is exactly what I wanted to know
14. What happens when you sing with a finger in your ear, folkie-style? (Apart from problems with your bass playing... )
15. Thanks Kev (and Percy!), I enjoyed that. I better go buy some Brand X records, see if I can enjoy them this time around...
16. Cracked nut? It's a long shot, admittedly.
17.
Photos of what? The seller in a compromising position with the neighbour's cat? Not a proportionate response, imho.
I'm not seeing how it's disproportionate? Although I did assume the OP had discussed it with the seller and got nowhere.
18.
A tone block is not being able to recognise that wood choice has a significant impact on tone...
A tone block is the slidy part of a Westone Rail.
19.
I was lucky enough to see him play the sound track to "The Naked Lunch" in 2000. Very glad I did.
The Cronenberg film? I hadn't realised that was him. I'm sorry I missed that.
20. Take photos. Post feedback including the photos. If it doesn't work, send it back. (Though I'm never quite sure what the value of the original box is.)
21. I learned some cello as a teenager. They make a lovely noise, at least when I'm not playing them

Paul bought an Ashbory from me. A good transaction (despite my car problems and traffic hassles) and I'd have no hesitation in dealing with him again. I hope it's useful in your project, Paul, and that you come to love it in its own right (Also, I owe you a beer or two
23. Just as well I don't really like sunburst!
