Lowering the pitch seems weird... surely you'd be shortening the effective length of the string? That ought to raise the pitch, surely?
The pitch wavering makes sense, because the free-floating solder coil would move and that would change the string length.
Did it change the tone of the note? I think it might make it softer, more fretless-ish?

The headstock shape looks unaltered, so I'm guessing one of the many unsuccessful not-quite-a-Fender-of-course-it's-not-a-copy manufacturers.
I would like to set the Sort By option on the individual subforums (Off Topic, Bas Guitars, etc.) so that I don't need to change the sort criterion every time I come to the site. Obviously this is not an earth-shattering problem, but it would be handy if there was an option to do this.
