1. I reckon that lower horn digs in something fierce... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wild-Rose-Music-Custom-Electric-Bass-Guitar-with-Active-Pickups-/261776500586?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cf318676a
2. Sorry to see him go. (Never knew he was Welsh.)
3.
I would recommend, in any case, to adopt a 'worst case scenario' attitude and take precautions such that, if there's a total loss of service (virus, house fire, burglary, whatever...) any and all of your information (software and their 'keys', projects and files etc; most especially anything unique that can't be bought...) is stored very regularly somewhere safe (off-site..? Cloud..?...) 'Ghosted' partitions, back-up software, regular duplicating to another medium... If none of these precautions are actually invoked, it will be because there's been no 'incident'. One can be sure, though, that if there is no back-up plan, an incident will be very troublesome. This, independent of platform, OS, or such. It's all too often neglected. Just sayin'.
This. Make backups, folks. Really.
4. When I were a lad, and my dad played double bass, you used to see fifth-string add-on kits on some players' four-strings. It's a long time ago, but I wonder if they might still be in production? I guess you'd need a new bridge and tailpiece as well as the added tuner on the side of the pegbox, so it's probably not DIY unless you're quite skilled.
5.
I think Glen Moore (Oregon) tunes his bass in fifths (a four-string). It's essentially cello tuning, isn't it?
Yes, standard cello tuning is CGDA.
6. I think this was made for BCer oldslapper. If I had space and money...
7.
I think the moveable pickup idea is still being utilised, but can't for the life of me remember by whom.
Gibson Grabber, out of production in 1980s but I think Gibson were doing a limited-edition run?
8. Congrats on improving. I wish I was... Headphones will make your neighbours happier
9.
I think it used to be mine
Did you get it from Roland Rock? because if so then I think it was mine before that .
10. I've got one, bought from FlatEric three or four years ago. I like it; compact, lots of tonal range, solid feel to it. I'll not be getting rid any time soon.
11. It's not mine, but mine looks exactly like that.
12. Ongoing "disputes"? Maybe they don't count against your score if you challenge them?
13. I've got one already... well worth the asking price
14.
Givsons are made in India: http://www.givson.com/home.html
Defretted but otherwise stock G. B. King, then?
15. Is the headstock tipped back? It looks as if it could use a string tree.
16. Is it damage to the wood surface, or "just" a colour change?
17. That's gorgeous. Very steampunk, and out of my price range by a factor of 10... Good luck with the sale!
18. I have a Sinsonido bass. It's nice, though the extremely light weight makes it feel a little odd. I should play it more often.
19.
Never seen these before, love that ! ....off to investimagate Cheers alyctes
(The reason I'm not going to buy it is that I'm broke... )
