Glad you and the family are OK. Good luck! -
I was going to get a short scale Hagstom Viking. Are short scales useless?
I have a 30" Prosebass fretless. Not even slightly useless. (Unlike my playing...)

I bought a bridge and some tuners from Lord S. All is well, and I'd have no problem dealing with him again. Thanks mate

SOLD PENDING THE USUAL Here's a project (or two) for someone. For sale is a pair of metallic blue OLP licensed Stingray copies; one defretted, one not; both with issues. I was going to sort this lot out into a a single bass with a choice of fretted and defretted neck; but I haven't got time, and I need the space. I bought the defretted OLP a while back from a BCer. It plays nicely and sounds good, and I don't mind the thick neck on a defret. As the pictures show, there are several areas of damage to the body. The edges have been sanded in several places in preparation for a refin. But there is a bad bump on the edge; the wood is crushed and would probably need a replacement block glued in, then carved and sanded to match the body contour. (I believe this is called a "Dutchman"?). I don't know, maybe it could be done with filler? Original sale threads here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2062524 and here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2053137. No, I don't know why there were two threads either. Doing that sort of woodwork is beyond me, so I picked up a fretted OLP in the same colour (matching headstock!) to build a single good bass with a choice of necks. The fretted one has lots of minor surface damage, and the electrics don't work. So, if you know your way around the electrics of OLPs, and you don't mind a few scratches, this might be an interesting project. £120 shipped for the pair (in the UK; if outside the UK, please PM and we will discuss). I would rather not split them. They will be shipped with the necks removed and without strings. I could use the money, but trades considered. I like Peaveys Pics of the defret here: http://s1295.photobu...t?sort=3&page=0 and of the fretted here: http://s1295.photobu...d?sort=3&page=1

That should be money well spent. Nice find

Okay, I'm going to get lynched for this, but... You could always get one of those smooth-on vinyl things that the classic car guys use, cut to shape. Cake, had and eaten
"Little Green Bag" by George Baker - everybody knows it already as the tune from "Reservoir Dogs" and it's a wicked bassline... http://www.youtube....h?v=4b1wt3-zpzQ
Good call But I think that "These Boots Are Made For Walking" pips it. (It would suit our singer really well, too. But that band is pretty much defunct.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbyAZQ45uww -
Ah, I wondered where the Foundation body went! I bought a lefty neck to experiment with. I think it will probably look too metal-esque for my tastes, but it will be fun trying
Has anybody compared these to the Farida jazz basses? Would be interested to hear thought and opinions.
Also, these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Revelation-RBJ67-Four-Strings-ELECTRIC-J-BASS-GUITAR-Vintage-WHITE-Jazz-Base-/171176177040?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item27dae52d90 "The best bass guitar at this price-point we've seen", or so they claim. Has anyone had a look? (The headstock is very Hofner, with that cut-back point. I've a nice fretless Hofner neck like that.)

They could have come up with a better model name for it....

That doubleneck is kinky... I wonder if you could put Ubass strings on it... -
Peavey UK is selling necks on eBay...

Typo for £12.99, or £22.99? Easily done.

Birmingham area. Obviously needs its electrics reworking from scratch. Might be worth a punt, if you have the time and money to spend on it. Other Vox basses of this era seem to be good - certainly my Standard and 3002 are. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vox-White-Shadow-Bass-/281465128831?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4188a1077f

Playing in a Folk band that already has a Cello
alyctes replied to Rainbass's topic in Theory and Technique
Cello does go down to C (tuned in fifths, CGDA). -
Prosebass fretless short scale for £250. I don't know how much these go for, but it seems cheap for a UK hand made bass with a known maker. Someone was selling one of these on BC for £350, so this *might* be a good deal.
Thanks for posting this, I appreciate it. Now all I have to do is find £250 of economies... (and learn to play the thing properly!).

Not yet, but if I don't stop looking at this thread...
... I'd suggest some careful thought about insurance and independent proof of the items and their value that you're putting into storage though. Someone on here lost a lot of gear in a storage unit fire and had insurance problems when it came to a claim. I can't find the thread but it wasn't too long ago.
