I can't hear myself when I play P-pup basses in a band context. So it needs to have a J pup in it. And I prefer J necks. And you know what happens after that.

Aria Sinsonido? They are surprisingly compact when taken down, they don't cost a lot, and they weigh nothing. The in-bridge pup can sound very double-bass-like. The Ibanez Mikro sounds nice and fits a guitar gigbag, but you will definitely want to change the strings. Mine needs shielding, as well.

[/quote] IIUC Japanese-made Fenders come in two flavours, the lower-grade ones made for export and the better ones which are sold only to the Japanese domestic market. I read that somewhere on BC back when I was a new bug, so it must be right

I bought Chay's NS WAV. He was very patient with my car troubles and eventually I managed to collect it. Nice guy, good deal, no problems. This is the second bass I've bought from him, and if that Thunder II goes up for sale... Recommended
