1. A Stradi Symphony. Looks the mutt's, so long as you feed it your firstborn... cheap it is not http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stradi-Symphony-Fretless-outstanding-and-unique-bass-for-you-/111446888859?pt=Guitar&hash=item19f2c0919b
2. I'm not sure this counts, but... Russ kindly sent me a bag of miscellaneous stuff, for the cost of posting it Well packed and all as advertised. Thanks mate!
3. Pretty What's the balance like?
4.
This ticks a lot of boxes for me - not sure about the tuner ears though http://www.ebay.co.u...=p2056016.l4276
I'm not generally a fan of the cutaways at the bridge end of the body, but that's surprisingly fetching
5. Aria Sinsonido? They are surprisingly compact when taken down, they don't cost a lot, and they weigh nothing. The in-bridge pup can sound very double-bass-like. The Ibanez Mikro sounds nice and fits a guitar gigbag, but you will definitely want to change the strings. Mine needs shielding, as well.
6. The middle one.
7. Bad pics, but definitely worth a look if you're local and know what you're doing. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Upright-Double-bass-guitar-/271587035910?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3f3bd94b06 Hopefully someone here will nab it
8. I wish I'd kept mine. So it goes.
9.
More poking around the web suggests the bass is a legit PB-38 model, described as a "lower standard Japanese-made Fender". Not quite sure what that means, however.
IIUC Japanese-made Fenders come in two flavours, the lower-grade ones made for export and the better ones which are sold only to the Japanese domestic market. I read that somewhere on BC back when I was a new bug, so it must be right
10. I bought Chay's NS WAV. He was very patient with my car troubles and eventually I managed to collect it. Nice guy, good deal, no problems. This is the second bass I've bought from him, and if that Thunder II goes up for sale... Recommended
11. I think that's a little low for a DeArmond, I think they go for £100-120?
12. Peavey Foundations, one fretted one fretless. Recently bought from BCist vmaxblues, thanks mate
13. is it factory fretless, or a defret? thanks
14. This seems to me to be a bitsa, Yamaha neck and DeArmond body. OTOH, it may be my ignorance is showing. Either way, I'd like to know http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Guitar-Yamaha-Black/171424305821?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3Dbb174d6337714f9c9d1df76255bdc5b6%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D20140122125356%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D111440082584&rt=nc
15.
Hey ,hey jazz bass on steroids, those super ferrites are good. Truss rod nut is brass and the rod is steel. A small dab of light oil, then a little lighter fluid to run the oil down the thread.,apply every 2 hours about 3 or 4 times-leave overnight ,try in the morning. Should free off, although it could take a few days, usually not,run the nut up the rod a few mm,s so there is a small cavity and put a small drop of the light oil in and let it seep down the thread and adjust away. If they are resisting after a few days-heat up a 5/16 socket and put it on the nut and wait a few minutes for the heat to go into the nut and try it. Remember to use very small amounts of penetrant as it will seep into the wood of the neck. If in doubt get a good guitar tech.
Thanks - something to try, at any rate.
16. http://cgi.ebay.co.u...E:B:WNA:GB:1653 I am going to South Wales on Monday and could detour to Swindon; I am tempted to put a £50 punt on it - just for research purposes, you understand A vaguely Peavey-ish body style, but the pointy headstock puts me off somewhat. So does the prospect of driving in Swindon... Death By Roundabout, IIUC.
17. Yes, the Millennium is ex-demo. I also am stuffed to the gills with Peaveys but still quite fancy a Zodiac. If I had a silly amount of money, I'd have a sillier amount of basses
18. Foundations are the mutt's How did you free up the trussrod nut, if I may ask?
19. Keep an eye on the Peavey eBay account. I got an American-made Millennium from them for £220...
20. I agree with the OP
21. Would someone else please buy this, sharpish? Ta!
22. My Vox Standard doesn't have the bridge you describe, nor has it had a bridge cover (it's been partly stripped of paint, so it would be easy to see). I haven't found any pics of a Standard on line with a cover, though I think I remember seeing one on eBay a while ago, which I think was added by the owner. With a bit of luck Bassassin will be along in a while to share his astounding amount of knowledge
23. I've owned two, both bought second-hand. One I sold on as a project; it wasn't great but it worked. The other has a second P pup added and I think is a keeper. For what they cost they are good, and a little time on tidying them and maybe upgrading the pup seems to produce quite a lot of bang for your buck. The P-P has Wilkinson pups, and they sound fine to me.
