1. Best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery
2. I add a set of Elites Unplugged 40-100 phosphor bronze acoustic strings. Opened but otherwise new.
3.
Hope it didn't hurt too much - you seem to have come out ok though Al
I admit that was a slight exaggeration... sadly all that teaching hasn't improved my playing much :|
4. I like 'Suddenly Seymour', my old teacher worked me over with it.
5. Seller is a BC member, same name.
6. oooooh...
7. I don't need to go busking, we just thought it might be fun. And it would let us play stuff we want to play, instead of stuff the band wants to play. (Is it inappropriate somehow to go busking if you don't need to?) Thanks to all for the advice
8. I'm glad someone is trying new materials. I wish them luck. (And I hope it smells nicer than luthite...)
9.
Hah! Me, I was born in cross-fire hurricane. Well, Poole actually.
It's a port port port.

Cello

I played in my teens (damn that's a long time ago...). My cello is old and very battered (it's broken twice across the neck that I know of), and as a result is too loud to play here (thin walls). I just bought a cheapo electric, though, so I'm hoping to get back into it
11. Tele headstock is the only thing I would do (that would reduce the weight somewhat as well). Maybe even by reshaping the existing one? Cheap too - then you could buy something else to rework Or possibly reshape the headstock for a more Peavey-style shape, slightly pointy to match the body.
12. holding out for a pink P, white/black/white scratchplate, 1.5" neck, non-matching headstock. And, CAR jazz, 1.5", black/white/black plate.
13. There are some cracking basses in the For Sale section for well under £300. The Dean Hillsboro which mornats is selling looks very nice. There's an Ibanez RB850 for £225 which I'd be after myself if I had the budget and the space. SGC Nanyo with upgrades and a small amp for £200... (Disclaimer: I have no connection to any of these sellers and cannot vouch for them personally. But do check the Feedback section )
14. I'm considering going busking with our guitarist. He'd probably just take an acoustic with no amp, but acoustic basses can't compete in my experience. Can anyone recommend a busking rig? I guess it will have to be battery powered. thanks
15. I bought some CDs, and I've no complaints. Thanks
16. I bought some strings, and I'm happy with the transaction. Thanks Matt
17. +1 for the Yamaha BBs. Also for the Ibanez SR300.
18. If I had the money, I'd nab it... GLWTS!
19. It's probably just as well it comes with its own hard case... those could be tricky to find! I can't imagine how to play it. Good luck with your sale!
20.
It could be pixies. I sometimes leave the window open. At some point during its period of rest I remember I mucked about with the pickup heights. I've tried that several times before and it didn't help, but maybe this time I found that magic spot. So that's another bass where I can't adjust or change anything, including the strings, in case it all goes to ratshit again. Fortunately string height and intonation doesn't bother me that much.
Measure everything, now, while it sounds great. (Take photos ) Then you might have a chance at getting that sound back, later.
21. I've exactly the same problem. Any (constructive ) suggestions would be appreciated.
