Anyone using a stand to play while stood up?
alyctes replied to Jezyorkshire's topic in Accessories and Misc
As already mentioned there are basses which weigh next to nothing. Maybe try a Soloette or the cheaper Aria Sinsonido? For practice I use a Sinsonido, a Markbass LMII and a 1x10 neo cab (no back problems, just lazy!), a child could carry it in one trip I reckon. Standing and playing with the Sinsonido is a breeze, almost like there is no bass there!
Another vote for the Sinsonido. If that's too radical, look at Ibanez GSRM-20. No heavier than an electric guitar, about the same size, and you can get a new one for about £160. -

This is an SB301, it seems. But it is not stamped "Made in Japan". I believe there were moves afoot at Nanyo to move production to Korea just before they went bust. This may be a Korean prototype. I have an SB301 like this, also from a seller in Bristol. It's nice for what it is, but not quite MIJ-standard. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Collection-SGC-NANYO-SB301-/151286698818?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item233963d342
This Vox Standard looks alright: http://m.ebay.co.uk/...1483?nav=SEARCH
unlike this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vox-Standard-Bass-Guitar-with-Rockbag-/261458099773?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3ce01dfe3d It's had a lot of stripping done to the body and headstock, and the seller doesn't mention it. it would be better with the headstock stripped entirely, IMO. -
Ibanez GSRM-20. From Thomann, about £170. 28.6" scale, fits a guitar bag. Change the strings, the factory ones are not very good. I've got one, I like it a lot. I'm guessing that if discreet doesn't like jazz necks the SRs would be way too skinny?

hi folks Up for sale is my Adam Black B-10 four-string acoustic/electric bass, bought from BCer 2wheeler a couple of years ago and for sale because I'm not using it. Original sale thread here: http://basschat.co.u...12#entry1772512 Photos by me are here: http://s1295.photobu...0?sort=3&page=1 It has one dink on the front, visible in one of the pics, and two very minor scuffs which I've tried to picture (one in the same pic as the dink, one in the pic of the bridge). Comes with original soft case and 2wheeler's nice green strings , plus a new (opened but unused) set of Elites Unplugged 40-100 phosphor bronze acoustic strings. £125 plus shipping - I have a sturdy box and can reinforce it. Might trade; I do like Peaveys , or will trade for a busking amp, e.g. QR10PA or Roland Bass Cube Rx (4 x2.5), possibly with cash your way depending on what it is.
That bridge cover doesn't belong on the bass; as the seller says "The only non-standard part that I have added is a black J-Bass cover over the bridge and its pickup"
I should have actually read the listing, obviously...
Looks nice, I'd be surprised if it sold for that much in an auction listing. Not that it isn't worth the money but these later (86ish) standard Roadstars never seem to sell for much. There was a red version of this bass that was on basschat for months maybe a couple of years ago now. http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1941256
And that's the reason I haven't asked more qs about this one...
-
I don't like it, but I prefer the sound of most basses to their looks.
-
This looks nice to my ignorant eye... YMMV. If it was close to me I'd definitely be interested. Is the bridge cover rare? I haven't seen one before. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-RB690-Roadstar-II-Bass-Guitar-MIJ-1986-and-Digitech-BP50-Effects-Pedal-/141260253702?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item20e3c46a06
Mike bought my Peavey Fury in an outstandingly smooth and easy transaction. This is the second Peavey Fury he has bought from me - I am tempted to buy another one just so I can deal with him again... Thanks Mike, enjoy that neck!!
Thanks Paul... The neck is quite lovely . The pup is fab also. With any luck Paul has now killed my Peavey GAS. Yeah, right
-
I've just had a(nother) Peavey Fury from Paul. Good guy, good packaging (and just as well too...!), good comms, very quick; a nice clean transaction and no hesitation in dealing with him again - though with any luck my Peavey GAS is now at an end. Thanks Paul
Nooooooooooo! This doesn't do my GAS any good at all! *groan*
Indeed... and it doesn't do much for my prospects of shifting the excessive number of basses I own either...
