1. Some interest, but it's still here.
2.
Alternative...
Works for me I'll play it to our singer, see if I can persuade her...
3. Someone told me that one of the Joni Mitchell songs with Jaco on it is a twelve-bar... if you can dig down through the arrangement and ornamentation. I forget which one
4. I guess the string angle is making a difference to whether the bridge is touching its earth wire. That's the only thing which makes sense to me.
5.
I don't think "need" is the word you should be considering. "Want" is the one I'd personally focus on.
It sits on my shoulder and pecks. Evil little monster... I'm a bit surprised the two pups together don't impress. I've a pink Westfield P with another P added, and together they sound like a P with more attitude. Does that get it?
6. bump! I'd keep it, but the neck is just too big...
7.
No. SR necks are 24 fret long with a slanted pocket. ATK necks are 22 frets long into a standard shape neck pocket. I tried an ATK in a shop a couple of weeks ago. Although my favourite 2 basses have slim necks - one is an older SR400 - I found the ATK still very comfortable to play. In fact I liked it very much but it's very heavy.
Thanks
8.
What do you guys think of my original thought, a pearl white to black burst?
I think they're ignoring you... That would look good. But do consider the same colours in reverse
9. I had a VMJFL. It was fine, good value for the money, though mine had been fitted with a Badass II bridge which was definitely better than the BBOT. The Harley Benton modern-style fretless I had before the Squier was not so good, but still worth having. It had a fretted-style nut, though I was too dim to understand why that was a problem till after I'd flogged it...
10. I still don't need it...
11. If I liked big fat fretted necks I'd be all over it. Sadly I only get on with skinny fretted necks (though for some reason I seem to like fat fretless necks... weird). Good luck with the sale
12. I am not quite sure whether this is gorgeous or uglier than an ugly thing...

new member.

welcome aboard
14. I am trying to convince myself I haven't got space for this (or talent). And I haven't. But, wow.
15. I bought a couple of Wilkinson pups from Alan. All went well, a quick clean easy transaction. This isn't the first time I've bought from him, and I don't think it will be the last. Thanks mate
16. If you want a really lightweight bass guitar, then the Aria Sinsonido 690 is your friend. Looks fab, weighs nowt, sounds good. Fretless model available. They come up here every now and again, about £150 for a decent one. Or you could get an Ashbory, or an Ibanez GSRM-20... the GSRM-20 is very short-scale (28.6"), decently made, looks like a four-string guitar, fits a guitar gigbag, weight in proportion. It's a pretty good deal for the price, too. (But if you get a new one, change the strings ASAP... the factory ones are not good.)
17. Forty quid?! Result!
18.
It's said that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, and having skimmed this thread I'm now quite content to accept that the incompetence that I put into my bass gets turned into music by the fairies. Jon.
First said by Arthur C. Clarke, and thus known as Clarke's Law.
19. Just wondering if the scratchplate and trussrod cover match?
20. I will not deal with him. On 4th January I paid him for a scratchplate. On 16th January I PMed to ask about it; he told me it had not been sent due to an oversight, and he'd send it. On 29th January, having heard nothing, I referred it to the moderators. On 30th January he PMed me saying it had been returned due to posting issues. I asked him to send it anyway. I still haven't received it, despite moderator input. Nor have I had any message from him since. Edit: I'll be happy to alter my feedback if he can provide me with some sort of credible explanation. Edit, 6th April: I received a PM from him, very apologetic and giving a reason for his silence, on 11th March. On 15th March he refunded me and said he had posted the scratchplate that morning by way of apology. Guess what? It hasn't arrived. Draw your own conclusions.
21. Thanks for this. Bill Lee changed my life in several ways. I preferred his stuff when it was harder to find; these days it's all rather industrial, "oh Burroughs wrote it so it must be worth publishing". Call me a snob if you will...
22.
Still here? These are great basses, look amazing too. I just don't need two! Jon.
Thanks Jon. If I got on with it I'd keep it...
23. Pink. Preferably dayglo.
24. Vox White Shadow was my first guess. OTOH I'm too ignorant to know if there were fives, or buckers...

Less frets
... I was thinking of a semi-fretless, with only frets 1,3,5,7,9 and 12. ...
Oooh... that's a really, seriously deranged idea. Good man
