1. Schallers. Not that I actually have much need of them, TBH. PS: I don't like Grolsch.
2.
See, Morrissey might be a twat but lyrically and vocally what he does in The Smiths is unmitigated genius as far as I'm concerned. People keep telling me they don't like him but my brain cannot comprehend that concept. Its a bit like saying "there are no foods that I like" or "I don't like reading". I mean, sure, you can think that if you like...but, what???
Yup.
3.
If you suffer back/neck problems and need a light bass I'd seriously consider an Aria Sinsonido (spelling corrected). They do literally weigh nothing and have a decent tone... probably not best suited to a 'ROCK' band but saying that I used mine once in my rock covers band and it sounded great with a few raised eyebrows... and compliments later in the evening!
This. Fretted and fretless models available
4. Good luck , and good for you for going to the GP.
5. Now I'm curious... What does it sound like?
6. It looks like a Burns to me, from the split pickguard, but that's all I've got. I certainly don't know them well enough to know if the body shape is right. Possibly a refin? I'm sure someone with some actual knowledge will be along soon
7.
I think the real problem is that "the bass neck has been deferred". Never de-fret to tomorrow what can be de-fretted until the day after ...
On-board delay pedal?
8.
I would have thought there must be a way to do this without too many problems... e.g. sending pics privately via email, etc... Now some of this stuff here is very nice, and not too pricey, either... *displays range of questionable under-the-counter goods*
Login-only?
9. I'm sure both your wife and your daughter will be eternally grateful
10.
It's a new day, it's a new bump...
Rule is, no more than every 36 hours ... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/183234-rule-changes-to-marketplace-36-hour-bumping-rule-and-trade-valuations/
11. Dance, dance my lovely! :whipcrack!:
12.
I took both, and my double bass, to a band practise tonight and used all three of them. Can't imagine doing this band without all three of those sounds available to be honest.
I think I'd like to hear your band
13. Strings definitely make a big difference. Flats for sure, but also think about nylon-coated strings; they have a real organic hum which doesn't seem to come from all-metal strings.
14. I'm not sure if it will do the sound you want (personally I think the P fretless sounds much nicer than the J fretless), but a decent second-hand Yamaha RBX200F will be a fine bass, not too heavy and not expensive - £120 or so? I've got one, and it is definitely not for sale. Also, I recommend Aria Sinsonido 690FL. Looks cool, sounds lovely (though perhaps not very Pino?), weighs very little.
15. I like the Status Hotwires. The Rotosounds I tried were OK but I prefer the Status, they feel and sound better to my ear.
16. I really like that. I can't possibly afford it GLWTS!
17. I bought Dave's Westone Thunder 1. All went well, we had a nice chat (including Mrs Dave, who makes a fine cup of tea, thank you ma'am), a pleasant and cheerful transaction. I hope to go see his band play some time soon
18.
Once again it's all 'eye of the beholder' stuff, really. I can't help but think that stripes like that on a bass make it look like a fag packet, but that's just me...
Stripey ones play faster

21. Pics are here: http://s1295.photobu...w?sort=3&page=1 (though at the moment the connection time is about ten minutes... )
22. I'm tempted, having seen the pics. It looks very pretty. I need to win a lottery or two... or sell all that stuff I'm not using. Any trades?
23. Thanks. Sadly, it's too wide for what I need, but have a free bump anyway
