  1. Tell me you know nothing about bass guitarists without telling me you know nothing about bass guitarists... (Spoiler: It's not colossally interesting.) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135236039699?itmmeta=01J79Z326DXM6CVNXRCB3G16TH&hash=item1f7cb23413:g:GQYAAOSweFBm3MKx&amdata=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Mxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29hG9Q9ZofH%2Bmrfz%2FzVi2dRN4EmqHlzs8NY%2BFNNTxMf2dJu66MBZ%2BpBfo%2FMrB8zKS7My5E1KjgSZtnHsqkCftdY2H4trbife6L9yl%2FnU5j8JaFvzVQ%2B5X4IQoBpK5iSP0uHGGSh5jWlTqPWIHjFp%2FgjHoVt0w5sW4VCU66pzRP7jXYTzbgMlst9dEBWxd7hEJjZ8BGzxPOlOjDfJVA0k5iniup68WIyET9XLgJR7%2BdoGzVj%2Fft9bHfpVjh7wvl8RVk7ofzqHRp9X4HvG5bM%2BS%2Bp5|tkp%3ABk9SR6SjjL-6ZA
  2. I don't know about the reliability of the preamps, but the battery covers on the active ones seem to fall off if you look at the things cross-eyed... obviously not an issue on this one. GLWYS!
  3. "Rare", it says... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235727598454?itmmeta=01J6WFHEKWR0D2E68XEV9HEJSM&hash=item36e275b376:g:vHEAAOSwDXZm10Xl&amdata=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Mxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29jbBwRXl%2B14IxHiOZLU85SqGzCYIkxSxYcsxhzxmii2pB3bAdOyhWyx3HzN4wN9gBgUtPc9vJpYz4AyRKMfKZfDhjiXCqcsegj28%2FBp73FrreyR00hdJf1ooiIiiQzvow0vN%2Fgrp5ll7qr7cyetJwWuJY4ooFaeFVFey0Z54VGAmacXnpYaGAbSkFN674iQ%2BwCPZohoG4Onx7wCcWI3N8BYTcCFoHN2hQdKghvZJPvZOu%2BeMNpNgpXtnYMM7FJ7xCmpYB8cnEKqWGQZ%2BoWhOPST|tkp%3ABk9SR4DqxY-3ZA
  4. I bought a neck from Neil. Well described, good comms, thoughtfully packaged, quick delivery. I'd be happy to deal with Neil again. Thanks Neil
  5. Fretted, fortunately for me... GLWYS!
  6. 'Silver Machine'. (Caveat: I know no Hawkwind after PXR5.)
  7. But you'd have a spare set afterwards
  8. Less experienced, as well. If you don't know what to look for, then this sort of stuff does at least give you a vague idea that people think it might be important.
  9. Looks very nice, I like that warm wood. It would be useful to see how high the action is - any chance of a photo, please?
  10. That's a rather odd beast. Aluminium nut, by the look of it. A screw in the middle of the headstock, presumably for a string tree? I'd guess that truss rod access is via the aluminium plate at the bridge end of the neck, but not clear. The body seems to be a refin, if the unrepaired scars under the paint are anything to go by, which makes me wonder if it's a home-carved headstock.
  11. I'm not likely to grab a guitar, and my hands aren't getting any more flexible. Keyboard or cello would be my choice.
  12. An American-made bass with good tone and high-quality parts, for under £200. I'm surprised it's still here.
  13. Broken headstock, tidied up.
  14. Gavin sold me some strings, which arrived promptly in sensible packaging. I'd be pleased to deal with him again. Thanks Gavin!
  15. Nice to see one that's not black! These have nice tone; to me they sound almost like an electric guitar stepped down an octave, very rich but not very woody. Caution needed when changing strings though - it's easy to strip the thread in the head, because it's a steel screw into the aluminium...
  16. I bought a power supply from Andy. Quick, uncomplicated transaction, and I'd be happy to deal with him again. Thanks Andy!
  17. I bought Carl's Zoom pedal; the second time we've traded. All is well and I'll happily trade with him again. Thanks Carl!
  18. The seller ribbetingfrog is probably a member here. Certainly someone based in Manchester area has that BC username.
  19. I assume the "graphite" nut is made of powdered graphite in some matrix - some sort of epoxy resin perhaps? If that's right, then the matrix might deteriorate with age.
  20. I'm still not convinced by the pictures, personally. I think that might be the last time I consider buying from eBay.
  21. I have a funny feeling this is an AI-generated picture. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126579639544?itmmeta=01J2YXRVF2MY0C5AYMDGX8TH28&hash=item1d78bc04f8:g:6oIAAOSwgl9mlp1S I suspect Ebay's whole business model will collapse as soon as scammers work out how to do this properly.
