1.
Might be neater and easier to open up the pocket by a millimeter then reduce the neck.
I'm surprised. Is it really easier to open up the pocket than to get at the sides of the neck? How does that work, please?
2.
I have a few irons in the fire but I'm just not feeling it lately. I'd like an upright gig but I don't feel good enough to try joining anyone decent yet. Without sounding like an arse I can play it and I'm sure there are many players gigging on elec bass at a similar standard to my upright standard but its a long way off my normal ability on elec bass if that makes sense?
Join somebody sub-decent, and drag them up with you
3. I bought a Westone P-pup from Alan. Nice simple transaction; all as advertised, arrived quickly and decently packaged. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Thanks Alan
4. No sig visible...
5. Lou touring Sally Can't Dance (I think) and sounding quite unlike his usual self. Prakash John on bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc26EFI1_nw
6. Bump for a nice guy and trustworthy seller.
7.
OK it's not the prettiest Jazz in the world, but nothing a scratchplate wouldn't sort. The price seems fair to me, & the sellers' description is accurate. Here we have an established member trying to get shot of some stuff (for very good reasons) & getting stick for it. Is this really on? P.
I agree. I've dealt with John; he's a nice guy and I don't think he deserves this sort of sniping.
8. Keep your eyes open on eBay. There are a few floating about.
9. I like some jazz, but not all that much. I've listened to a fair bit and still do, partly because I know I don't understand it. I was considerably put off, a few years ago, when I read a comment by Dave Brubeck saying that gigs could be spoiled by people in the audience listening in the wrong way.
10. It's also possible that the string retainer has had its corners filed off. They are a menace to anyone near your left shoulder.
11. I don't like it, but that's not the point. The point is, you do like it. Go for it, and I hope it's everything you want.
12. Hmm. I like the Peavey neck on its old body... so, perhaps I should be working out a way to remove 0.5mm from each side of its heel. Obviously it needs to be reasonably symmetrical. I can't afford proper luthiery. So, I'd be grateful for suggestions
13.
Join the queue....
Long queue, isn't it?
14. Apologies for the delay - pics of the Retrovibe here: http://s1295.photobucket.com/user/alyctes/library/retrovibe%20telebass?sort=3&page=1 Pics taken in artificial light; more can be taken if wanted. Four-string, two humbuckers, IIRC the controls are Vol/Tone and 3-way pup selector. 34" scale. Neck is skinny and quick. It could do with a setup. Currently has one straplock; strap buttons will be reinstated before any disposal. Otherwise pretty much immaculate; certainly never gigged.
15. Always pleased to see the astoundingly-knowledgeable return Also, rather worried about my own GAS...
16. Milestone III neck is about a millimetre too wide. Bah, humbug.
17. what colour is the original scratchplate?
18. Are you asking £260, or £290? Sorry, I'm a bit confused.
19. Peavey Milestone III might also fit. That's a little more like it. I'll try the Peavey neck on the Hohner tomorrow, if I find time.
20. I've a one-off Retrovibe telebass I'd trade, similar value. There is only one, it's a pre-production model for a line they never actually produced. Is that Les Paul-ish enough? Fender-like headstock.
21. Is it 34" scale? I've a Cirrus BXP and that's 35".
22. Hmm. So far, it looks as if a Peavey T-40 neck might fit... but that's out of my price range.
23. hi I have a Hohner bass in need of a new neck (broken trussrod). It's bolt-on, four-string. Heel measurement is 61 mm. I like skinny necks, so I'm not overly concerned with an "authentic" rebuild - I want something which will play. Can anyone suggest other designs which have/had necks of this size? Thanks
