1. here, eBay, Thomann. Strings from Status Hotwire.
2. If that goes for £35 it'll be worth it for the bits...
3. also, IIRC Julian Cope had a problem which sounded like this. I think he gave up bass though... !?!
4. With all due respect: I'm wondering if "can't afford lessons at the moment" is the real problem here? Because it sounds as if you're depressed, to me. (I base that guess on bitter personal experience.) Other question: is everyone else in the band still happy? hth
5. interesting... that's got to shorten the battery life? if so, how much?
6. If it's a Rickenbacker or Rick copy, you can't advertise it or sell it here. Otherwise, your best bet would be to post in the Bass Guitars subforum for advice on pricing, http://basschat.co.u...6-bass-guitars/ (If it's a Rick or Rick copy, doing that might be construed as advertising, so you might find it was politely deleted.) Photos will help. Or, you could post in the For Sale section (there, photos are essential). In my opinion, if it doesn't sell in a fortnight, you're pricing it too high. If it sells in a day, you priced it too low...
7.
Pinned in each Marketplace forum is a notice regarding locked threads. It makes perfectly clear that if anyone has an old advert that is still valid, all it takes is a PM and it'll be unlocked. If I'm sat at my PC when the request arrives then it gets actioned within a minute - and that includes writing a PM back to the person to let them know it's been done. We really couldn't have made it any easier.
Ian did exactly this for my flightcase ad, very quickly.
8. well, if that lot isn't enough of a welcome, there's not much I can do... welcome aboard

Hi!

welcome aboard!
10. Jah Wobble...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylOCIP54PIQ Allegedly he'd learned sitting down and couldn't play standing up. YMMV.
11.
Being a long-time folky I have encountered several innovative bands and concepts. The Imagined Village are up there with the best. A few of the bands that I remember with fondness over the years include Fairport Convention, Alan Stivell Band, Steeleye Span, The Albion Band, Planxty and Afro Celt Sound System. Anyone care to add to the list?
Five Hand Reel.
12.
I've got one of these, a maple necked version in bright pink from Alyctes on here. The frets needed finishing a little, and I attached some block inlays and painted on some binding along with a 70's Fender logo(this I now regret, although it makes the bass look like its worth several times what I paid...), and the result was a bass to rival my Mex Precision- I even ended up using it for my biggest gig to date, playing in the main hanger at Aintree racecourse for Ladies Day of the Grand National! Stock pickups were surprisingly capable, great sound through the SVT I was using, although the colour is a little loud for some of the more 'spit and sawdust'-ish venues I play. For £49 brand new you really cannot go wrong at all, shame they don't have the metallic blue/maple one so I could knock together a Steve Harris tribute bass on the cheap...
Glad it worked out for you
