    Sounds like a hopelessly lazy "promoter" to me. He should do his own hard work. OTOH, if your band was to put on a gig within range of me (I'm in Poole), I would probably come along...

    I have a Westfield P bass, hot pink body, maple board, black/white/black scratchplate; pickup and electrics working. It has the following faults: - one tuner is slightly bent. - one tuner screw is missing. - the end/bridge strap pin has been punched into the body perhaps 3mm. - there is a small dent in the back of the neck behind the 8th fret. It is on the upper curve, so I doubt it would be an issue. - frets need dressing. - the body has a small crack in the neck pocket (upper horn). - there are minor scuffs and scratches on the body. There are no strings on it at the moment. I wouldn't play it as it is, because of the frets. Therefore, offered as a project or for parts. Good for a cheap backup, perhaps. I will only ship with the neck removed. £40 posted. Link to pics below

    One white; one black. Both are four-string, pre-slotted. Unused. Both have had packaging trimmed. Should fit jazz neck - 39.5mm long. £7 posted each, £11 posted the pair.

    I bought a Steinberger headless from Paul. The transaction was difficult and I wound up asking for BC moderator intervention. (Many thanks to Johngh, he's been superb.) I paid for the bass on 7th January; nothing happened. I asked for an update (twice) and on 19th January got an apologetic PM explaining that there had been problems in his personal life and promising to send the bass ASAP. Nothing happened. Paul eventually PMed me on Monday 4th February, telling me he was on his way to send the bass, and promising tp update me. I received no update. The bass arrived on Tuesday, as I was writing a PM asking Paul if he'd actually sent the bass. I know that Paul is in the throes of major personal issues at the moment, so I don't want to condemn him. However, I will say: Deal with caution.

    Aaaand, result Bass arrived today, well packaged and looking good. A look at the electrics and trussrod will have to wait till tonight, but it's here and looking quite pretty Thanks again to Johngh for his efforts, and to everyone here who offered. It's very nice to be part of a community

    for me the real reason for fives is that you've got two octaves under your hand, with only a small shift. For some of the stuff I played in my previous band, I tuned the five up three semitones, D G C F Bb. Gave me a blues 7th under the low E. I'm still not sure that was a good idea, but it gave a lot of heft to E or Em tunes.

    Today was a bit tricky. I went to band practice this evening, and confirmed my impression that I can't sing worth a damn, and can't play fretless either. (Bits of it were good, which is something Also I am in dispute with someone here who has my money and hasn't sent me the bass I bought off him .
